It seems like they gave more attention to building out their space (pretty nice) and their cultivating a target market (rock climbers) then their actual product. But I don't know those guys so maybe they are really into rock climbing and drinking German beer, just seems kinda cheesy to me.

Still I might swing by for some of that Shawarma and a lager, I haven't been down in a while.

I climb and have had their beer, and some of it is good (I really liked Magnetic Meridian) and some is meh. I agree their space design is quite good, plus they have excellent taste in photos. Especially the one of that studly guy approaching the Hogsback on Hood. :sunglasses:

Not impressed by Crux?! I know we all have different tastes, but they have been my #1 brewery this summer easily

Crux was distinctly underwhelming when we visited in Feb. Felt like they were just pushing out a bunch of underdeveloped beers to keep up with demand. (Which I get must mean somebody likes them, although I'm unconvinced it's the beer geeks packing the place.)

I just felt that both of these comments deserved their own Like. Totally agree based on our trip last December.

EDIT: I also feel that Tough Love - while decent - was absurdly priced. That is all.

I ordered a sample tray at Crux and was informed they don't do that on Mondays. Weird, if you can pour a pint why the hell can't I get a sample tray. So I asked for a taste of the scotch ale and they kinda laughed at me and said we don't do that. I've been to a ton of breweries and have never seen that before...it's pretty standard you can taste a beer before you order one if you want to. Whatever...so I ordered 2 beers....that will be $12....really for a marzen and a pale ale?? I realize the brewer came from deschutes good for him...doesn't mean they can start not giving tasters and charging $6/beer for basic mediocre beers. The marzen was seriously no better than Sam Adams Oktoberfest and I can get a six pack of that for a bit more than a pint of crux.

Strange. I haven't had a beer from them that I'd consider good. Everything so far has been mediocre to underwhelming.

I tend to agree. And they are expensive. My friend brought back 2 growlers from there and it cost him over $50 total to fill them. And they were growlers he provided!

With that being said, I'm going to check them out again the next time I'm in Bend, I've only tried 3 of their beers so far.
