I'll be up there for a week for work. Any good beer recs for that area? Stores, bars, restaurants? I noticed only a wine shop listed on BA. Thanks.
In Basking Ridge you won't find much. The Grain House which is right by the Verizon Campus has great food and a few beers on tap. As mentioned above, the best tap list in the area is the Tap Room in Somerset Hills Hotel. As far as the closes beer store, Gary's in Benardsville is probalby your best shot. Most of the popular places in Northern NJ use BeerMenus.com to list their taplist. Have a look and don't be afraid to travel, that area of NJ is pretty beautiful.
Thank you both for the responses. I'll be without a car unfortunately, but the Tap Room sounds like it would be worth a cab trip one night. Cheers.
Stirling hotel is just as close so if a cab night is happening make sure to check events/current tap lists at both.
This. Both Stirling and Tap Room update their beer lists regularly on beermenus.com. My recommendation will always be Stirling. Food is good, beer is good/great, the place itself is great, and the wait staff is second to none. Edit: And hell, shoot me a msg when you're around and available. I usually am down there a few times a month. Maybe I can save you the cab fare.
Dbl. The Stirling Hotel, but unlike the Tap room(which is in a hotel) Stirling isn't a hotel at all. From the outside it looks like an old western saloon. Good people, young bar staff.
Um.if I took a taxi to that place I'd be pissed. Not worth the drive for below average pedestrian homebrew
We are way off topic now at this point, but I get more pissed at the below average service I get every. single. time. that I go to this place. And let's face it, Lazy Jake Porter really isn't that terrible of a beer...
Figured I'd throw it out there that if you do decide to go to the stirling hotel, keep in mind that they are closed mondays.
