So back in October, Surly announces Todd’s resignation. At the end of November (from what I can find), the rumors swirl that Todd would be brewing a beer with Badger Hill. We’ve known for a few weeks now this braggot will be released this upcoming Saturday. Todd had mentioned in interviews that this was a concept he had tried to make happen while at Surly, but couldn’t. Yesterday, Surly announced the release of their own braggot, which tapped today. In their write-up, they claim this braggot, brewed in November (just after Todd left), was “the first opportunity … both breweries could come together and brew a new beer as a team.”

Am I selfishly reading too much into this, or is there something more here than a big coincidence?

I thought the exact same thing as as well. Definitely looking to try both, but kind of hoping the Badger Hill braggot is better. They are creeping up as one of my favorite breweries in the suburbs. I really hope there was no ill will in Surly choosing to make their own and releasing it when they did.

Roets in Jordan has a Braggot going as well. They have nothing to do with the soap opera of Todd and Surly, but still sounds good.

Also, I did hear about Surly's and found it was fishy.
