How come there are hardly ever threads about new releases in the area? It seems to all be about visiting taprooms and arguing about NE IPAs. I like to get opinions of new beers, and the decent reviews are few and far between, and non existent for these particular beers. Anyway, I really like the new freezebox by Bauhaus. Rare to get all brand new beers in a variety box and, moreso, have them all be good. Bleatboxer Bock Pee-Wee Stout Sno-Cal West Coast IPA Vossisdoss Kveik IPA At first I was concerned about 2 IPAs in a winter box and by a brewer who I typically get more excited about their lagers, but both are excellent in different ways. I would give the edge to this new "west coast" IPA over Yummi Bear by Surly (which is also good). And the Kveik yeast gives an odd (but delicious) citrus and almost Christmas-like spice persona to the other IPA. The Pee-Wee Stout is essentially a 4.5% Irish Dry Stout that is kinda Americanized and has a slight oaky component. Seems a little on the bitter side for what should be an easy drinking beer, but good nonetheless. The bock is straightforward, true to style.and executed very well. If you like bocks, you will like this. Anyone else try this yet?
I saw it in the store the other day but havent bought it yet, I'm still trying to get through my Oktoberfests.
Thanks for the heads up on this. I found one remaining 12 pack in Brainerd and grabbed it based on this thread. Glad I did. All were very good. My reviews are up for more details but I agree on the edge to this west coast iPA over Yummy bear. Thought the bock was very enjoyable.
