One of my favorite shopkeepers (the place in the Public Market in Portland) tells me Baxter's Tarnation is basically taking the place of Amber Road, which she described as discontinued (though you'll still be able to snag a loose can here or there for a bit).

Which do folks prefer? Amber Road might be my favorite Baxter offering, but I can see Tarnation appealing to more people. Sorry to see Amber Road go, because I love a good red ale, but Tarnation is a terrific steam beer - I dig it as much as Anchor.

I prefer other breweries ... Baxter, not good!

I dig that Baxter trades mostly in cans and drafts. Can't bring bottles to the pool in my neighborhood. Not my top Maine brewery but I'd say not a slouch either.

The Tarnation was the best Baxter brew I've tried (I missed their hefe). Seemed like a somewhat lighter-bodied Anchor Steam.

I found them both to be underwhelming.
