Based on your preferred beers, I think you'll like Holographic. Clean, crisp, and nuanced.

I actually picked up a can yesterday at K&L, while I was picking up my Hop Mix #1. Haven't tried either though. Maybe tonight!

And... CBS sold out of the Alvarado / Moonraker collab in reportedly 4 minutes.

I got my 2 cans of that (Spaced Out) and 2 cans of the Alta California pale.

Cool that you were able to get some "Spaced Out" Moonraker collab.

Let us know what you think.

Hoping at least a keg makes it up to Moonraker in Auburn or at some tap room in Sacramento.

Just wanted to do a shoutout to Imperiale Beer Café in Brentwood for having great bottles for sale at very solid prices. Personally grabbed a few of the de garde available (Vache de Mer, Imperial Hose & Houblon De Mer) for $13. Also saw the logsdon spontaneous fermentation there as well.

4 minutes? They only get like 2-3 cases or something? It's like Russian River delivery days all over again.

    That's exactly what it's like.

I don't have a problem with what's going on quite yet as I'm still arriving at 11:45 and still getting cans, but we're gonna have a problem the Thursday I arrive at 11:45 and don't get cans because some dudes showed up at an hour before they open and caused everyone else to show up earlier and earlier and earlier.

Hoping they have another instagram video.

It's getting nuts over in the East Bay as well. There was a small mob (myself included) that descended upon the cart of cans as the clerk parked it in the beer section of BBW. It was only a matter of minutes before that shit was gone.

Not sure why I envisioned you guys carrying pitchforks and torches while making your way to the cart.

Since it's National IPA Day, I was hoping to do Spaced Out, but my wife isn't feeling beer today and I wanted to share it with her, since she loves her some Moonraker.

    So Alta CA it is.

As a pale with "traditional NW hops", it tastes very much like a WC IPA-. I mean that in the best way. Clean, piney, and bitter (and lack of the new school hop fruitiness). Just dialed down from IPA-levels. I may have never tasted a Pale Ale like that.

I will never wait in line or truck chase for a freaking APA/IPA.

I hesitate to mention it since I like having it there so much - but, ehhh - f it - you can normally find all the latest Alvarado releases at The Cooler in San Leandro on 14th St. in the to-go section. They generally hang around for at least a few days, I think they've gotten almost all the releases as of late, minus Duane's World.

I'm guessing they are going to be a buck or two over what you'd get 'em for at the bottle-shops - but you can also just pick it up at your leisure...

Gonna leave this here in the local thread, as opposed to WBAYDN.

This one surprised me ... despite being a Kolsch and a wheat beer, I don't think it's that velvety smooth, nor do I get the malty Kolsch notes either. To me, it tastes more like an IPL with really old-school Pacific NW hops (Cascade? Centennial), which means non-descript pungent bitterness. I wasn't as much of a fan of it as I thought I'd be.

This one, on the other hand...

It's probably the best Alvarado DIPA I've had, but it's still an Alvarado DIPA. On the (-) side, that means it has a soapiness and alcohol nose and taste, that's offputting to me. It also has a bitter finish that doesn't really mesh well with the rest of the beer.

But on the (+) side, there are plenty of fruity notes to be had. There's peach, pineapple and even some berry flavors. I wouldn't describe the entire beer as juicy, but it has some of those notes.

It's just that the bitter/alcohol notes detract from it so I feel its polarizing. I had the latest batch of CNJ and felt a similar way. If I were rating this I'd put it at a 3.75'ish, which certainly isn't bad. I'd just pick a lot of DIPAs over it, like anything from Moonraker.

I've never had a malty kolsch. They've always been clean and crisp with faint fruity esters. It's one of the few styles that I'd pair with foods with delicate flavors like white fish or some Japanese foods.

Almost time for the CBS madness! It's a shame this has gone from something I've enjoyed to something I dread over the past month.

Picked up a couple cans of the Belching Beaver/Phantom Carriage collab at Jackson Market and it's surprisingly better than what I thought it would be.
