I like that one a lot.
I found it to be heavy on berry notes and christmas spices.
    Quite different from their Weissbier

Last weekend, I visited an old friends at his Hof with some other friends, close to Sulzbach-Rosenberg,Oberpfalz, and visited the local Kerwa, Annabergfest...
And off course, litres upon litres of local beers were consumed, before, during and after the fest.
The 2 local breweries, Fuchsbeck and Sperber Bräu, both make more than solid beers, and the price for a litre of delicious Festbier at the fest was only 6.60€. What personally amused me, and really might annoy tickers, that at the tents, it wasn't really easy to determine from which brewery your beer came, because the tents were very close together, sometimes wrongly labeld mugs were used, sometimes no labels on the mugs at all, etc pp. But all beer was good and enjoyable enough. And it was nice to have a choice of different lagers and even Weizen....It's really nice that small local celebrations like this still exist and still attract the local population.

An unexpected surprise at the store this afternoon... Hofbräu Oktoberfest 6-packs in brown bottles. I stopped purchasing this beer a few years ago after getting burned several times on badly skunked bottles. Maybe they finally heard our rants and cries?

How do we get Jever to make this change as well?

    Cheers!

There was mention of this in one of the Okto threads, been looking around me, but haven't seen them yet.

I think you're right about them hearing their customers' feedback -- we'll know if all the six-packs go brown!

Also, maybe this will prompt some of the other breweries who seem to want to follow the old marketing.

For what this is worth, I just saw HB Dunkel and Weizen in brown bottle six-packs. Original was still in green bottles, but it was the old packaging on the carrier too, so it may take a while to go through old stock.

Found Weihenstephaner Festbier today, classic Wies'n style that drinks nice and smooth with that good German breadiness.

That's great news. Bought a sixer of HB Dunkel a few weeks ago and it was still the green bottles. Tasted fine though. I'll be revisiting a bunch of their beers if indeed they are switching everything over to brown.

Each brewery has their own tent so what tent you're in determines what beer is in your Maß
There are festivities such as this all over Bavaria from May to October, why do you think I've been spitting fire and venom against that tourist trap at the Theresienwiese since Day 1

What the...? Oktoberfestbier in 0.33l bottles, so you'll need 3 to fill a Maß? What the?

Well, when you can clearly see which tent you are in. They had a space where the tents were open, there were no signs on some tents, the card had only the name of the Wirt on it, and the waitresses were not wearing brewery specific attire ... But honestly, as long as the beer is local, fresh and tasty, in such a situation, I do not care too much were -exactly- it is coming from...

    Jealous, aren't you?

Six-packs are so commonplace here in the U.S., importers have to adopt. We still see .5l bottles at certain retailers, but not as often as years past.

By the way, Spaten bottles are .35 -- so a little less than 3 bottles to fill the Maß!

Um, and what is keeping them from putting together 6 packs of 0,5l bottles? I mean yeah, most bigger breweries in germany, esp. outside bavaria, sell 6packs with puny 0.33l bottles, because, well, profit?? But it still annoys me, esp. with styles like Hefeweizen, seriously, who has 0,33l Weizen glasses...

As mentioned, over here I think it's marketing to the customer -- 6-packs of 12 oz. bottles (yeah, or 11.2) are the big thing for beer. I think I'd get a hernia from a six-pack of half liter bottles! But I have seen 4-packs.
I have a convenient sized Becher glass that holds about .425l with room for a good head -- works nicely for the short bottles. Since I most often have 2 or 3 different kinds/styles of beer when I drink, it's great for my needs. I usually don't drag out a Maß unless it's a really special occasion.

Oh yeah -- I have seen .33l Hacker-Pschorr Weizen glasses. Hotel I stayed at in Munich used to have H-P vom Faß and offered .3l or .5l pours.

Slightly annoying? Yes. But I have bigger issues with the 0.5 L bottles of Weihenstephaner Festbier I saw this week with a bottling date of 2015. Or the Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn with a best before date of June 2017. Etc, etc.
