This. They had it on tap back in February and I was very excited. Ordered it and had none of the barrel/bourbon characteristics of the BBpt5. Even asked the manager and she said it most certainly was BBpt5. It's been a fortnight but to this day, I still lay awake at night pondering if it was/wasn't the ever elusive BBpt5 or it's younger sibling pt5.
I've been to the Box Bar a couple times in the last few months and BBPT5 has always (supposedly) been on. The bartender said it's been on since Christmas when I asked about a month ago. She didn't seem to think or know of it being hard to get. I was confused.
The Box Bar isn't really known to have big barrel aged beers on tap or in bottle are they? Have they ever had Black Note or KBS, BCBS?
The Score in GR used this same tactic but not quite as bad. They listed it as Plead the Fifth but described it as a bourbon barrel imperial stout. Didn't even go to see I'd it was BBPt5 cuz I knew there was no way a growler fill of it would have been had for the $16 price tag.
