If you only knew. Oh, if you only knew about my week, let alone this day. But, http://www.maxhigbee.org/, puts on a nice little brewfest here in town every April, and over the the years, despite the fact that I've poured, drank, and offered my opinion on things, they've managed grow that event from a thing featuring 6 breweries and 12 beers, into the premier fest north of Seattle. Today, everybody entering the event received a hand-written note from a MHC client thanking us for volunteering, and telling us about their favorite thing about bacon. The girl who wrote the note I got said her favorite thing about bacon was bacon wrapped bacon. I defy anybody to argue with that. Yup, everybody on that thread shoulda been at baconfest today.

The website needs a little updating: no mention of Whatcom Wheat or the other Bellingham/Bend collaboration beer!

I think my friend Justin (BA OKComputer) is running the site, and he's pretty busy, but I just sent him an Email.

OK, I was wrong (what I get for not writing stuff down). The 10 Barrel is coming up, but there's no collab. Wander is doing a collab with Reubens for beer week, and they'll be releasing a Tripel during BBW as well. I just looked at the site, and it shows 4 beers for BBW, but I know there's more.

Ever hear of a style called Koyt? Me either, but Wander and Ruebens have collaborated on one for BBW '14. It'll be tapped at Wander this week, according to a FB post that just popped up on my feed.

There's a kuyt on tap at Hopworks BikeBar right now. Here's some info about the beer, which was a collaboration between Hopworks and one of the Dutch brewers who visited Portland for the Oregon Brewers Festival.

BBW kicks off this week. I had the Wander/Reubens Koyt the other day, and it's really good. Also looking forward to Wanders Tripel. Boundary Bay will be having their 19th birthday party, featuring the release of their Batch 5000 Imperial Porter. I've had a few sneak peaks, and it's nicely tasty indeed. I hope some of y'all can make it up for an event or two (got a surprise visit from @TheBungyo on Sunday), and if your heading up, shoot me a message and we'll trade digits.

Being too lazy to look at the schedule and too tired to think for myself ... any key events you'd recommend for those making the trip?

Depends on what your into. There's tons of Brewers nights, pairing dinners, the brews cruises. For me, Barleywood Squares is always a blast. It's a beery version of the old Hollywood Squares tv show. Sadly, for me at least, they've moved it to a Sunday afternoon, when there's several other big events going on in town, and I'll probably have to work. And, if not, I'll probably go to one or more of the other events. The Oktoberfest looks like it'll be fun this year too.

Something called Baconfest, where beer can be consumed all day?

That might very well have been the awesomest day since the invention of awesome days.

Technically, the drinking at Baconfest was only about 3 hours. It was the drinking before and after that hurt.:astonished:

The mere fact that something called baconfest exists gives me a rosy feeling about the future of the human race!

And, it was wildly successful. Folks were waiting to get it, the vendors ran out of food, and they turned away about 300 people. I'll let ya know the date for next years.

I stopped in @ Fremont this morning to try to get a bottle or two of their BBW 100% Citra IPA (which they started selling yesterday @ 5 p.m.) ... all gone :slight_frown:

And they also wouldn't fill a growler for me either (understandably). They still had it on tap @ the UBG (maybe gone by now), but unfortunately I had shit to do so declined a glass. I bet it's phenomenal.

I was bummed to miss out on bottles this afternoon, but had a glass and wasn't blown away.. If they had bottles I may have bought a couple, but also don't mind just waiting a couple days for the failsafe cowiche canyon

I saw bottles at the Food Coop here in town yesterday. If you want, I'll grab you some.
