Thanks, but you've been too generous already Terry
I had my chance to at least get a taste today, and passed. So it's on me for missing out on this one.

Well, perhaps you could talk the wife and daughter into going to the Bite of Bellingham tomorrow? Everybody likes food, right?

The bottles went on sale Friday at 5 and sold out the same night. Not sure if it was a small amount released or if we need to be afraid for future Fremont releases.

I'm guessing it was a small amount. In a line of about 30 people around 5:30 yesterday, I think I was the only one who grabbed a bottle.

Does anyone know if the Bellingham Crush by 10 Barrel is available in bottles? I had it from a growler and enjoyed it ... would love to head up and grab bottles.

    Thanks!

I was really hoping to get to the BBW sourfest on Saturday but the girlfriend is giving up beer for a month. @beertunes I'll let you know if we end up heading north that day.

I don't think 10 Barrel has bottled any of the Crush beers.

That was my though ... but the image on this page really looks like a label:

I mean, it has a bar code. And 10 Barrel did bottle the 2nd Nail for Pine Box's anniversary and that seems like a cider variation on the crush beers. Thought maybe they would do them in small scale for event even if they can't do them at large scale for distribution. Was just hoping I suppose ...

10 Barrel went straight from Beer No. 2 (Cynical CDA) to Beer No. 4 (Big Ol' Pumpkin) in their series. I've heard rumors that Beer No. 3 was to be a Crush beer, but the Swill/Beer No. 1 recalls made them scrap bottling plans. This may be why they did label artwork but no actual bottling for Berry Crush?

That would make sense if they used the same enzyme.

The answer is likely more technical than I really need to know, but if they isolated the problem to an enzyme, it seems like a workaround would be straightforward. Other breweries have bottled Berliners/lactic beers without this issue. If only 10 Barrel had an R&D Brewer to figure this stuff out, oh wait...

Didn't they mention that it was an enzyme when the recall was announced?

More Hop Lab 3 available at the brewery. Only bought one, left the rest for others. $6 each. Three left as of 6pm.

Yes. My limited understanding of brewing chemistry may be the problem, but I got the impression that it was more like an additive to benefit some aspect of the beer (e.g. Alpine using an enzyme to make their beers quasi- gluten free) rather than a naturally occurring product of fermentation. If it is the latter, then I guess I'd be curious about the significant ingredient difference between 10 Barrel's Berliner Weisse recipe versus Fremont Sour Weisse or Dogfish Head's Festina Peche to use an example of an interstate distribution BW.

I was there as well yesterday for a short bit. I had a couple of glasses of Hop Lab #3 and saw a single bottle in the cooler. I asked one of the staff if there were more and she went in the back got a bunch to put in the cooler. BTW, I didn't buy any.

If anyone gets there and there's none in the cooler, just ask. Those Fremont folks are good people.

Good to know. I asked on Saturday if it was really sold out or if there were more in the back and the gal working the counter said they were totally sold out. Weird.

This was my experience too. She went in back and checked, came back and said it was all gone. Maybe I'll try my luck again tomorrow.

The bottle I picked up on Wednesday was dated 9/5/14, so I think there is more than one batch.

Plenty of Bellingham Beer Week #3/Cowiche Canyon Hop Lab #3 in the cooler @ Fremont as of 11 a.m. today.
About to finally enjoy one of these. Cheers!
