Being that I haven't been around these parts a very long time, I hope I'm not duplicating anything too badly. I wanted a space where we could talk about and share both insight and excitement as to what's coming up in BC craft beers. This was piqued recently when a label for a new Driftwood sour was floating around the internet (Lust..something) that seems to have disappeared again (perhaps cat out of the bag too soon). Also, Barley Mowat's list just isn't updated enough for me. :grinning:

I was also at Four Winds after work today chatting it up (awesome place to hang out, it was 100% full-on beer geeks in attendance when I was there!) and learning about the barrel-aged, brett-laden saison coming out in a few weeks - cannot wait for that!

Further out but for some reason I'm really looking forward to new versions of Woolly Bugger and Singularity.

Have people had P49's Pound Sterling? How is it? I tried to get there today, but Four Winds is so far out of the way I couldn't do anything else in one evening.

The Driftwood sour you're talking about I'm similarly excited about. I've heard that it's a blackcurrent sour, originally slated to release this month (to co-incide with the brewery's anniversary) but pushed back to november as it took longer to transfer a batch of... something  out of the barrels than originally anticipated. Can. Not. Wait.

Very excited to try Four wind's barrel aged saison, too. Wildflower Saison would be in stores now except for labelling problems - it's expected to hit shelves sometime this week (yay!).

Central City's Imperial IPA is now part of their year round line up too, as opposed to seasonal (awesome!) and the first batch in the new bombers is bottled and ready to go. Should also be hitting shelves this week- I got to try some over the weekend, and the malt body / sweetness was higher than I remember though I think it's just my palette changing over time. Still enormously hoppy nose, and great sugars / hoppiness balance. Year round or not, I'll be picking up more than one.

Should be a pretty fantastic week for BC beer nerds... and I echo your question about Pound Sterling, very curious to hear from somebody who'd tried it.

Seriously, so much happening right now. Driftwood's anniversary beer coming soon. Central City's new brew-pub looks amazing, yet to get there. Brassneck impressed me a lot. 33 Acres is great. Lighthouse has been knocking recent beers out of the park, heard they have a brand new winter ale coming. Four Winds might be the most exciting of them all, barrel aged Saison?!?! It's about time. Now if we could get a decent Farmhouse (ala Logsdon or Crooked Stave) brewery to open somewhere close I'd be in heaven.

Powell Street continuously sells out everything. Storm is doing more interesting/weird things. P49 is always expanding it seems, hopefully they won't turn into Phillips with a new beer every week. A few of the Victoria brew pubs like Longwood are starting to bottle/can and ship to Vancouver.

Not BC beers, but local company Untapped is one to watch as well with DDC and TDD coming early December (hopefully I'll be able to announce a big party soon

Good time to be a beer lover in BC!

I was saying to dude at Four Winds that I was so excited by what they were doing and that it would be amazing to have something like Logsdon up here... needless to say they hold Logsdon in VERY high esteem. In time I hope that's exactly what they'll be. I guess they'd have to get out of the commercial complex and into a real farmhouse... there are plenty nearby but somehow I think Surrey has worse break-in problems than rural Hood River.

Oh, and I have a few bottles of Pound Sterling in the fridge now but haven't cracked one yet. Tomorrow.

Sounds like Parallel 49 are about to release their Braggot soon too. I seem to remember enjoying an early batch at the central city summer cask festival this year - looking forward to trying it again.

Four Winds Saison is awesome on tap . One of the new breweries to watch . Brass Neck is also amazing. The Fresh Hop Belgian IPA was first class. Keep your eyes open for the Barrel Aged Pothole Filler Imperial Stout. It is aged in Canadian Whiskey Barrels. On a non BC note look for weihenstephan vitus weizen bock which is in stores. Simply one of the best beers of that style and perfect for Fall Evenings.

I have a bottle that I'm holding onto; I thought it was a one time release. Are they making another batch this year too?

Actually, on reflection that sounds about right for me too; I've not had it for a year... a case showed up in Legacy and was gone rather swiftly.

Yeah 2013 was the first time they've done it. Regret not grabbing 2 but I was already overloaded.

Yeah, just went to Brewery Creek and they had it in stock. They also had a box of mystery beers that you're supposed to open a month from now. They didn't post about it on Facebook.

Edit: oh there's already a thread about it. Welll, anyway, Brewery Creek has it in stock for those interested.

Probably the worst beer they've made, but overall I'd say they're successful with their one-offs. That said, Lil Red wasn't selling well here so I'm guessing they had lots extra to send out East
