Dang, now the inventory of Rodenbach I lugged home from Portland will remind me I could have had more RR / HOTD / DFH / etc instead. But good news!!

Lighthouse's Desolation imperial oyster stout showed up in Legacy yesterday. I opened a bottle last night, and was very, very impressed. I'll be buying more and I suggest you all try it too.

Fantastic. Was hoping it'd be solid.

This thread was a very bad idea, for my wallet.

Yeah same here actually and I have no one else to blame. Just as much a bad idea for my fridge space too.

Picked up a sixer of SN Celebration from BC! Already the Bridge Grinch was gone

Got to add Scuttlebutt 10 below and new shipment of Renaissance Imperial IPA . Both really well priced and great

New batch of Inertia ImpStout (9% this time) and 'DixMas' IPA at Brassneck are both pretty damn good. Working on a 1L growler of the IPA right now  Haven't had Founders Breakfast since last yr, but I immediately thought of it when trying the stout, perhaps even more coffee forward with less chocolate.

Also: N2 Nitro from P49 is pretty tasty, preferred it from the bottle than on tap at brewery release party. Fun to pour. Chug with safety goggles on.

Debated making a new thread for this...but, has anyone else noticed an increase in awesomeness of the GIB seasonal bombers since they started calling them 'Black Notebook Series'? Not sure, but I don't think the Barley Wine was labelled black notebook. Anyways...

Just my opinion, but I think that if any other 'craft' brewery was making a few of these black notebook beers people might be talking about em a lot more. Just had the Burly Goat Weizenbock, and I like it. I'm not sure if I'm amazed by it, but to me it's really tasty and I can't really remember the last time I said that about a BC brewed weizenbock (aside from Moon Under Water have any been made?) Or is this just a style that's always going to get a 'meh' reaction from the hop crazy Vancouver crowd?

Seems to me that the whole GIB/Molson thing is very similar to the Goose/InBev thing, and it's a never ending war of 2 passionate sides. Not really interested in starting a similar argument, just curious if anyone else has noticed more of a 'tasty' factor in this series?

DIXmas is already gone! That was good stuff. Inertia is really good this batch too for sure, still have a little bit of a growler left in the fridge. But more excitingly still, Brassneck has produced their first sour, with brett, and its available in the tasting room (not for growler fills). I haven't had it yet but will stop by today for a taste for sure.

Jon I agree that GIB's notebook beers have been consistently good! My guess is that with Molson having taken the standard lineup off Vern's plate completely, he's been able to spend a little more time tinkering with the limited stuff. It was a good move all around given the rise in popularity of these specialty beers. I liked GIB's CDA more than any other local CDA save Belgian Black (if that even counts). Their Puckermeister was based on a German style I usually don't like but it was done perfectly IMO. I haven't been keeping up but I know I'm missing out!

Yeah I'm heading to brassneck right now. Can't miss their first sour - and I agree, their beers are getting even better! I agree that Inertia is nicer this time around, and as good as Dixmas was I think I might have preferred this batch of passive aggressive, it's simply that good. And their new belgian (Cherub-something?) is very tasty too. Great to see how well they are doing!

I had the Cherubesque belgian strong ale on Friday. Definitely very tasty.

DixMas was good. Good to hear about the sour will defintely head there tomorrow. Hmmm tempted to go today.

Anyone else think the prices in the tap room are a tad too high? After tax, pint equivalent is about $9 if buying 12ouncers.

Volume-wise I think they might be a little high but the paddles are quite reasonable I think.

Had a taste from Lurk's glass of the sour. It wasn't bad but wasn't my favourite either. I hope they keep experimenting with it!

Got my four bottles! No Barrel Dweller this year, I hear through the grapevine those barrels went towards making more Singularity. Which is fine by me, as I want a good chunk of Singularity.

My post = Exactly what you posted.

+ it's super fresh right now. I've never had it with the hops so forward.

I've not opened mine yet, but god, the colour... it's so much lighter! You can see through it and everything!

It's striking how different it is. I'm curious to see others' reactions and how it develops after a year.
