That's pretty hilarious. I'll look for these bottles on the shelves in Alberta in two years.

I'm gonna be shocked if it makes it to BC. And even more shocked if it's less than $40.

Legacy got a bunch of wax-dipped Hermanator bombers today. Fucking awesome! Wasn't sure they were going to make it off the island... glad a few cases did

Yeah that look awesome. I already wax dipped a 6 pack, but I might still grab one.

It costs ~$30 at the brewery, so the chances of it being under $40 are slim to none.

Kump, I grabbed three bottles of Toques of Hazard and though I haven't had it yet I noticed it uses Nelson hops. That might be why you didn't like it, I've heard Nelson hops are highly divisive - some people love them, other people say they taste like cat piss. Really looking forward to trying it now, though. I love dem Nelsons.

Welp, I've had two bottles of Toques of Hazzard and... I dunno. My expectations were obviously misplaced. I expected a somewhat over the top beer, partly because of the Nelson hops and partly because... well, it was an imperial white IPA weighing in at 9.2% abv. It managed to completely sidestep all of my expectations, however, because this beer is not some giant hop bomb, nor do the Nelson hops really play that big of a role in it (at least according to my taste buds).

It tastes almost uncannily similar to Snap Crackle Hop. There's a very light malt body serving the utilitarian purpose of supporting the hops, and yet the hops themselves are so mellow they have almost no bite. There's no beta acidity to the aftertaste. All the hops seem to reside as really front-loaded, sugary, tropical fruit-alikes in the mouthfeel and aftertaste. You get a bit of a tang in the aftertaste but nothing too crazy.

Overall, I'm still not quite sure what to think. I guess I was just expecting a different beer than a SCH-alike. At the same time, this feels like the brewery's answer to people who ragged on them for SCH having a really ricy taste or whatever. I guess if you disliked/hated SCH due to its rice body, maybe give this a shot and see how you like an identical beer (or so it feels to me) minus the rice.

Again, I don't want to give the beer a negative connotation, because it really is quite a lovely ale. It's surprisingly mellow (and contrary to Kump's experience, I thought it was really drinkable for 9.2% to me), with a really nice, non-bitter hop flavor that you might enjoy. I guess it just boils down to the fact that I wanted something other than a non-rice Snap Crackle Hop variant.

Won't stop me from probably getting another ten bottles, though. The only reason I stopped getting SCH is because the hops had finally degraded to the point where it was noticeable in the beer. In a way, I guess this is a dream come true: I can have more delicious tropical fruit imperial IPAs
