This would be my first search for a vintage beer. It's been easier to figure out recent release ISO:FT's, but not sure that to throw out there for one bottle of 2008 BCBS. Any thoughts, suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks!

I'd just update my gots, and then do ISO: '08 BCBS; FT: Gots.

Looking at your gots real quick it looks like you shouldnt have any problems pulling a bottle.

    Good luck!

This brew is Bourbon County Cardboard Stout at this point. I wouldn't bother searching an '08 out any longer.

Does this mean Rare is also cardboard?

Rare was brewed in 2008, bottled and sold in 2010. BCBS '08 was brewed in 2007, bottled and sold in 2008. Rare is a year younger, and not as good as it was 12-18 months ago. It's definitely not getting any better and will likely fall off quite sharply in 6-9 months. There hasn't been a rare in my cellar for at least a year.

Just did a vertical 06-13, 08 & 09 were by far the best in my opinion. I would say it dropped off with the 07 and 06, but the 08 was amazing. And rare was drinking beyond amazing, though it was the first (and probably last) time I've had it.

I had an 07 and it was quite dead, the 08 was showing its age as well, the 09 was terrific , everything current is obviously great stuff.

Palates vary, but the last few bottles of 2008 BCBS I've had were all good and didn't have any noticeable cardboard flavors. This particular vintage has held up great over the years. Cannot say the same for 2006 or 2007, but storage conditions can affect this for sure.

To be fair, 2007 has always been a weaker vintage. Every time I've had it in a vertical everyone tends to agree it's the least-desirable year.

I'm far from an expert on BCBS, but the 09 might be the best year I've ever had.

2008 was my favorite vintage as well. Over the past couple years I've had bottles that were better than Rare, but the last few bottles I had (about 4-6 months ago) were oxidized with the cardboard flavors coming into the beer.

The last couple Rare's I drank were mediocre. Rare hit its peak about 16 months ago or so
