So far unclear if NJ shops are getting birthday and anniversary unless others have heard otherwise.

Joe Canal's in Lawrenceville posted sets for sale last night. I think they sold out, as they weren't up on the app this morning. It was BCBS, Special #4, Carmella, Kentucky Fog and Anniversary for around $125ish after tax.

Are we talking don't bring up the per bottle price, the per oz price, the price-compared-to-what-other-BA-stouts are? Just want to make sure I'm discussing things appropriately here in the cozy BA forums.

Back to topic, the Wheat Wine sounds very interesting.

Saw #4 and the apple one locally today when I was grabbing beer for the weekend. Too expensive for me personally, I don't mind/care if that's a fair price (for all the kane thread watchers). Just speaking for what I'm willing to spend on beer these days.

So it is around and not really holding to the late or the black friday tradition...

Yeah I haven't yet but I'm sure it's at some places already around me. The only one I'd consider is the birthday and regular. $25 for the oatmeal maple or more doesn't seem worth it anymore with the volume of releases that are barrel aged nowadays (as opposed to bring a once a year splurge). Birthday has gotten rave reviews, but I'm not going into NYC for it with COVID and the fact it's going for $40 plus I've heard anyway.
Guess I'll grab a regular at $13 at some point since I'm sure it'll sit plenty long.

I do look forward to the regular but oddly they didn’t have it out.

Well sure, till you go to buy a #4 and they pull some regular out of the back and tell you it's a package deal only! (Oh those were the days...)

I honestly don’t remember vividly what it tasted like but I don’t like really sweet beers so I assume it wasn’t (at least last year). Didn’t get the wheat wine this year (yet).

Any noticeable maple @mumbles44 you’ll make me sad if you say yes. But I’ve made peace with not buying one.

So with the annual BCBS pilgrimage on black Friday, or sooner in some areas it seems, has anyone seen or know if the Birthday variant will be available in NJ? Every year there seems to be one that is elusive, like the 2-year last season. Birthday apparently is the chosen one this year.

No, at least bit at the couple big places that were selling packs of everything they had. Anniversary will be around in some, not all, places. Probably because only places that sell lots of INBEV got it, so probably I assume smaller places may not.
If you want birthday you'll need to go into NYC or Philly but if you haven't already I'm sure there's (not so safe given the pandemic) lines. Goose in Philly did have a presale but it wasn't exactly cheap (I think they did have a small amount of unannounced singles, but it was mostly focused on the big pack of everything). In nyc some places already sold birthday a week plus ago I should mention, so it's not JUST a couple places.

Yeah I figured that was the case. I’ll venture out today and see if I can grab an anniversary and be happy with that. I’m glad I was able to grab a Utopias there last year because there’s zero chance that I’m going anywhere near NYC at this year. I may contact a relative in Pa to see if they may be able to grab a Birthday though.
