T, i'm not so sure the date rule is solid anymore. in SF i think Matagrano still strongly suggests it's not to be sold til BF but GI doesn't command the kind of authority it once did & enough retailers have ignored the date repeatedly that no-one is worried about breaking "the rule". + i think the main argument for it was the BF events were supposed to be exclusive & so the date requirement was about protecting those exclusive event locations/retailers. locally, i'm sure CBS & others dropping the event weakened the rule even more.

As not-the-biggest-fan, I Just picked up 1 bottle each:

    BCBS
    BCBWW

Coffee Barleywine and Bramble Rye were also available, but I didn't hear good things about those. If I saw the Orange Chocolate variant, I may have sprung for it. But not too keen on dropping that much money on a 500mL...

FYI Grocery Outlet at Geary and 27th has regular, wheatwine, bramble, midnight orange, vanilla, and coffee barleywine. All the variants are $21.99. Not much vanilla left. I grabbed two vanilla and a coffee barleywine.

This past weekend, Total Wine in Mountain View had Vanilla for $25, while the one in San Mateo had Vanilla for $30 and Wheatwine for $20.

I just spotted a bunch of regulars for $17 at the mollie stones in Larkspur/Greenbrae (10 mins north of the golden gate bridge). They also had a few bottles of CBS for $27 each. Pricey imo (like all mollie stones). Also, Ale Tales in Albany posted yesterday that they finally received their shipment. I'm unsure of what they are asking price wise though.

That's really messed up because someone just posted on the Bay Area shop thread that they're $8 at Costco, so less than half this price here.

Anyone still looking for vanilla, bevmo has over a case on Van Ness in the city.

Any more bramble sightings in the SF/peninsula area? Have never tried any of the batches so I've been curious.

It looks like liquid gold in SF might have some. I might have one ft if you're in sf if you can't find one.

Thanks for the heads up man. How the hell do they keep getting more of the vanilla there. You can’t buy the vanilla online this time around. When they got it in 1.5 weeks ago it was available to buy online with no limits.

The two bevmos I've visited this year were both enforcing a bottle limit, which is nice to help spread it out.

There was a bunch of BCBS on the shelves at the Geary Bevmo when I was there four or five days ago. They had lots of CBS bottles too.

Ok so although it says they have 13 vanilla at Van Ness online apparently they no longer have any more. Went in there today to successfully pickup a couple I bought online 2 weeks ago. I did figure out how to get some of those 13 I saw online in the last two days in my shopping cart but apparently they don’t actually still exist.

Just saw them there today too. I can’t believe that tiny little store got these.

Couldn’t resist pressing a couple of buttons to secure a bottle of Vanilla. Picked it up but not worth $25 IMO. Pass on future variants at this pricing level.
