Greetings- recent transplant to Milwaukee from Chicago. My next big step in adapting to a new environment is learning how Black Friday works here (if it does, or if shipments come later). Past few years I have headed out to one of the satellite Binny's a few hours before opening and always able to get my allotment. Any info on what to plan for or expect here would be appreciated. Thanks.

The BCBS release in MKE is mostly unorganized. Discount Liquor usually has a timed release that you can line up for, so that's probably your best bet. Otherwise it's pretty much watching Twitter or hunting around at various stores. Some stores don't even release the bottles until after Black Friday.

Personally, I go to Lakefront Brewery for their bottle release on Black Friday. More than likely it will be the BA Imperial Stout again, which was excellent last year. Lots of people and plenty of bottle sharing going on. You'll likely have to choose between Lakefront or Discount Liquor.

rays usually has an event on saturday, they raffle off the variants and some other good stuff. Its a good time, especially if you can get there early enough to get into the growler gallery. sign up for their mailing list and Im sure they'll send out details.

The stores that I have seen it at are:

Woodman's (Oak Creek) - One 4-pack per customer
Gary's Liquor (Oak Creek) - 1 12oz Bottle per customer
Whole Foods (Milwaukee) - The one year I made it in time with beer on the shelf they had no limit.
Downer Liquors (Milwaukee) - Saw people buying but, I am not a "regular" so I was told they don't have any.

But just note its regular only. I have been searching for a barely wine for the last three years and never found one.

So my opinion would also be to line up at lakefront for hopefully a barrel aged stout again this year, then drive as fast as you can to local liquor and gorcery stores.

Well maybe when the time gets closer, some of those in the know will help us all out and won't mind sharing where the good stuff is at

It's going to be very interesting to see the limits stores set now that everything is a 16.9oz. How many regular will a guy be able to get? I still assume one bottle of each for the others if that store gets any.

This will be the first year I'm not even going to bother looking for bottles. I still have a couple regular from 12' and 13', so I'm good. CW keeps me fully stocked with all the BA beers I need.

That's exactly where I'm at....got about a case and a half of vintage BCBS and a few cases of CW. Lakefront for Black Friday sounds WAY more fun than driving around for 6 hours hoping to get 6-12 bottles of BCBS for $100ish. And my money is staying local, too.

All depends on the allotment to MKE. Two years ago you could grab multiple 4 packs of regular easily for a couple weeks. Seemed like it was everywhere. Last year was cut down maybe due to expanded distribution to cities like LA and NYC. Even regular had strict bottle limits. It did pop up on tap all over town though. Variants and BW bottles were next to impossible last year.

Thankfully we've got a few extra BG's to keep us satisfied!

That second sentence might be somewhat of an overstatement but the overall thought is true. I believe the demand is the problem rather than the supply...and the fact that it's spread out over a lot more accounts than years past.

they raffle off the variants and other stuff they've been keeping off the shelves. more info on the 11/27 coming per recent email. I think last year I got there about 2 hours before started and was about 40-50th in line if I remember right.

Depending on where you are you might be surprised on how much will be available. People should have a positive attitude this year. A little due diligence will go a long way.

Discount and Ray's have not released any details yet. They are both doing Saturday events at the same time. Similar to last year I'm sure

So any word from any of the local grocery stores or odds spots this year yet? Or will it be the mad dash and twitter-thon like usual

I'm not sure anyone knows how much their getting, other than Ray's and Discount knowing that they'll get a decent amount. It sounds like Otto's will get slightly more than they did last year, which would be nice.

I'm more curious about the change in packaging and what that means for bottle limits.
