BCBS Black Friday in Milwaukee

Hunting through Milwaukee to Kenosha was a zoo this year. Crazy lines; allotment sold out before announced release times etc (though I would recommend arriving an hour early to any release time). Anyway, there are a few spots that haven't received their cases yet. Whole Foods on east side is supposedly releasing this coming Friday morning Dec 4th, and Sendik's Mequon is likely releasing on Thursday. I usually see more thoughtful limits on their releases from these groups. I was able to get Regal and Barleywine from Germantown Sendik's last week. I completely avoided Discount and Rays.

On a different note, I see Darkness bottles are coming to Wisconsin the week of the 14th. Does anyone have leads who might be receiving any? I'm assuming Discount and Rays?

 

That is the way to go. I picked up my BCBS and was home within an hour. I am not standing in line for my one in 100 shot at a variant.

 

I definitely agree some would do the same, but I was disagreeing with the absolute nature of your reference "anyone else would have done the same". I don't think that's accurate.

 

Sendiks Mequon got theirs today. 1 per, no variants. I called and picked mine up at lunch.

 

Me too. The funny thing is that I went there on Friday and the liquor guy said "we did not get a lick." Wonder what changed. Am happy though!

 

Picked up two bottles at Sendik's Germantown yesterday, and one at Sendik's Whitefish Bay.

 

Anybody know what Whole Foods has? Went home to chicago for the holiday and it was apparently way more pleasant than trying to get BCBS here. Disappointed at the guys offering the chance at "A kind of BCS" per 6-pack, I expected better from them. Chicago ftw

 

Malt Shoppe will give you one of "something" Bourbon County if you buy a regular GI 6 pack next Tuesday. Yet another reason why I avoid that place... along with their prices always being a $1 more

 

Ottos was awesome. Short line. 2 reg + 1 variant of choice. Maybe 30-40 in line max.

 

Anyone know if Bruno's in Lake Geneva still has any available? I was going to be in the area, sort of,tomorrow and was gonna stop in if they still had some.

Call him or FB him. Be prepared to buy other Goose products to get the "privilege" to buy bcbs.

 

They had a few cases left as of last night.

 

Brunos still has 9 cases upon the front of the store. Checked while I was there today. Limit of 2 with a GI purchase.

 

Thanks for the info. What's with having to purchase another GI product to get BC? Did he have to make a substantial GI purchase to get BC and is now trying to move that stock? Seems a bit shady if that is the case.

 

No. He does this to help is GI number for the year, which helps get more bcs allocations. He had 25 cases of regular this year. Maybe even by tomorrow he would up limits. I know he doesn't really want to sit on this stuff too long.

 

True GI allocates BCBS based on other GI sales volume but regardless it's still shady to force people to buy beer they likely don't want just to get BCBS. If I was a regular customer there but didn't really dig other GI beers, I'd be annoyed with that policy.

 

I liked Malt Shoppe, I got Born Yesterday there as early as humanly possible just by chance and I was impressed. They say their BC is "competitively priced so nobody feels gouged" and immediately say they're requiring the purchase of a 6-pack to get a chance at 1 bottle of a unspecified variety...sounds a lot like gouging to me. They lost me already.

 

Just curious but has anyone asked what the store's return policy is when going this route?
