I worked retail for 7 years... was forced to work Black Friday every one of them. I have a deep DEEP hatred for it. If you can tell.

haha Yeah, I can see how that would do it. I've only gone Black Friday shopping once, but it was at a Wal-Mart in West Virginia so I probably saw just about the worst humanity has to offer there.

FFF often cancels tours on holiday weekends. Pub will likely be open. Their tour is kinda "meh" anyways...

Good to know. I figured while we were there we'd do the tour, but frankly I just want to eat and buy some beer. If we can do the tour, cool, if not then I'm cool with that too. I'd think the pub would be open on Saturday since it's 48 hours removed from the holiday.

Indeed, except for FedoraDingus and his small army of mules.

    Ouch. Doesn't sound like a very good "friend" . . .

He paid $35 + tax and I paid that plus the shipping to Pennsylvania.

Same here, actually. I don't think 6-7 am in front of Binny's is nearly as bad as the rest of Black Friday, though, so I'm okay with that one thing.

So if I get there between 5 and 6am I should probably be okay?

We got in line at LP Binnys around 6:30 and no problems getting prop.

I'm hoping that if everyone ignores him, he'll just go away. Literally everyone: beer nerds, his mules, people at releases who hand him tickets/bottles... just no one in the world acknowledges his existence.
    More than OK.

Just remember: DO NOT DRINK IN THE PARKING LOT! It is a) illegal b) a risk to their liquor license.

Edit: The parking lot thing is a more general PSA, not directed at you specifically.

Yeah I'd never drink out there anyway. Thanks for all the info, fellas. Any recs on where to stay? There's some reasonably priced hotels on the mag mile but I've not reserved anything yet.

You should hit the Shedd while you're here, it's one of the best aquariums in the country.

Yeah, from everything I've heard, it's all much more available in Chi, despite the awareness. I found a 4-pack there in late December. In SE Michigan it was all one-bottle limits, and all gone by 4 PM on release day. And I never saw anything but regular.

Oh, and there were some charming price practices too, like the ONE store I found selling 4-packs...for $60.

Driving in from Pittsburgh. Going to leave here early on Thanksgiving day and head back on Sunday.

I usually stay at the Embassy Suites on State/Ohio. Its a couple blocks from the mag mile, its right next to the grand red line stop(can take to north/clybourn, aka binnys lp), they do a fairly decent free breakfast buffet starting at 630am, and they do free drinks from 530-730 every night. Plus the rooms are big, there's a kitchenette with an empty fridge, etc. There are tons of great places so wherever you end up is probably going to be just fine, just giving my .02.

$50 for a Prop is a lot better than traveling to Chicago on the shittiest day of the year.
