And with a lot of these shops selling prior year's bottles knowingly or unknowingly (still too few details to form a solid opinion), what the hell is going on? You think they would accept returns on those bottles if people had their heart set on this year's batch?

Unlike bcbcs which has a year of the release stated on the front label bcbbw does not. The only way to find out is to look at the back of the bottle for the "bottled on" date. But who does that? I'm sure stores sold what they were delivered unaware that a lot of bcbbw was from 2013. Most of my bcbbw this year ended up being from 2013 (I did not look cause I just assumed in was 2014) but I'm not complaining since I like it a lot. bcbbw from 2013, Backyard Rye - a lot of 2013 items were put back to NYC market this year. Intentional? I have no doubt.

    So far the 2 x-factors:
    1) The higher prices at TH for the official event
    2) lower prices across BK
    3) most local shops charging about what TH charged (~$14)
I'll also add that the first guy called around and even some of his customers had to confirm that this was the going price for this years coffee variant. very odd.

Could someone at the distributor have screwed up the SKUs with last year's price for a few deliveries? Even in that case it seems odd that One Mile House charged 12 and Top Hops charged more at retail. Would think Ted at Top Hops would have known best out of everyone though.

One thing I do know is that the distributor(s) in Brooklyn are not the same as Manhattan, which could explain the difference between the boroughs.

Also, I picked up two 2013 BCBBW at 9th Ave Vintner unknowingly as well. This doesn't bother me as IMO 2013 BCBBW >>>>>>> 2014. Easily. I don't intend on opening another bottle of the 2014 for at least another year.

Just got back from Broadway Dive and my bottles of regular BCS are '13. Not going to complain as I bought 2 4-packs at $6.25 a bottle and now have a full case of '13 BCS in the cellar.

The Barleywine was '14 and $6.25 a bottle
    Coffee was $12.00
    Vanilla $24.00

Huh, this is strange. Seems like the distributors had some leftover 2013 and snuck them in with people's orders. Who the hell knows what's going on with this year's delivery. Noble Grains and Triboro also had some big issues with orders/distribution so clearly something is happening with this process

Something that a friend brought up to me about the pricing - TH and Broadway Dive both got the first shipment from GI, and they charged a similar price. I would assume that Whole Foods and Malt & Mold got their beers in the second wave and they charged less (~$7/bottle).

At this point nothing would surprise me considering the hiccups and headaches.

the distributors have really fucked this.

    1. one mile house and top hops got kegs of BCBS 2013, not 2014.
    2. top hops $14/btl coffee price (i want to believe). ted puts a standard markup on all his bottles. he specifically told me he asked the distributor to double and triple check the price that ted was supposed to pay for BCBCS, and it was confirmed - bringing the price to 13.99/btl.
    3. BCBW bottles were mixed 2013 and 2014

    ugh

For the record, if you got old bottles at Broadway Dive, they'll replace them with the new ones while supplies last.

For those in the city still looking for coffee, Carmine Street Beers posted thist on their fb page this afternoon:

    Hello everyone!

We just received another shipment of Bourbon County. We'll be releasing the Coffee and the Backyard Rye at 5PM today. (No Vanilla).

We still have plenty of Stout and some Barleywine available as well.

2 bottle limit for the coffee, not sure about anything else.

@PVMT Not sure, wasn't able to go to the first release on Monday cause of work and it doesn't look like I'll be able to make it there today either. Just thought I'd share the info incase anyone missed out on it.
