That is some early morning drinking right there gents.*

*Which isn't to say I won't be sipping a 2013 BCS while waiting in line.

I'll be coming to New York on Saturday 29th, any chance they would still have any left? Is Top Hops the only place that will be getting them? I would be really happy to get just a single bottle of the Vanilla Rye.

they will have plenty of bottles of regular BCBS, but most likely the variants are all gone in a few hours

Top Hops will run out of variants that day. Then te variants will trickle out all over Brooklyn and Manhattan. Just need to keep up on Twitter / Facebook to become aware.

Are they still doing that voucher thing for a later pickup of the Vanilla Rye? Isn't that what they did last year with Backyard?

That happened due to an issue with the label - it wasn't approved by BIG GUVMINT in time.

Assuming the label is approved, I see no reason why the bottles wouldn't be available for immediate purchase.

Very good. Although I highly doubt I'll be in town on Black Friday, so it's a moot point. Maybe I can score some Vanilla Rye in Baltimore...

Anyone know who went to Top Hops last year know what they charged for the allotments? Also, can you choose just to pick up the variants and not the regular bcbs or is it a total package type thing? Thanks.

It's an interesting question - I think for the sake of speed, they had pre-packaged bags with the "max package," and I don't remember the option to NOT buy everything. That said, it might just have been that no one asked.

I believe the total was something like $70 for 4 BCS, 2 BW, 2 BCBCS, and one Bramble Rye. Plus all the free swag for being there (an awesome screenprint, glassware, coffee).

Wow, that's actually incredibly reasonable. I was only asking because it is fairly easy to get bcbs for $24/4pk year round in BK. I'm definitely gonna try to make it to this, sounds like a great time and I wasn't able to get any variants last year so this seems like a guarantee so long as you get there on time. Thanks for the info!

I tried to push the fact that a coffee version was an option and I was greeted by the look of an unenthused spouse haha.

It's pretty incredible that a place like Top Hops will carry BCBS as a shelf beer all year long, while folks in other locations can't ever find a bottle or two of BCBS. I'm not complaining since I'm in Top Hops year round picking up 4-packs.

Prospect Heights Beer Works in BK had a case or two of 2013 sitting on their shelves up until about two weeks ago. I picked up another 4 pack back in September to hold me over until 2014 is everywhere. I didn't actively seek them out last year but I didn't see any of the variants which is why I'll probably hit up this release, seems like a relatively easy way to guarantee you'll get them.

Where is BCBS going to be available in NYC on black friday?

I think they still have a case or two, but I think they took it off the shelf to gear up. That, or there was a mad, unforeseen rush on their stock.
As of right now, it'll only be available at Top Hops. That was the case last year, when no one else got it until the middle of the following week, and even then it only trickled into distribution. By mid-December, however, it was fairly easy to find variants around the city (except for the Bramble Rye, which was nearly invisible), and impossible not to run face-first into a 4-pack of BCS regular.

Aw man. I'm going to be the city on that Friday. It's impossible to get in NJ, so I was actually hopeful! I assume Top Hops is going to be packed out that day?

For the people who have attended this event before: how long do you expect the variant package to last that day? I had high hopes of taking the train in early and getting on line around 8:45-9:00am, but now I have to go up to the Hunter Mountain area for Thanksgiving and will be staying there overnight. The only chance of making it to the city by car by 9:00am would mean that I would have to leave at 6:00am, and I don't think the girlfriend is going to be to fond of that idea.

If I can get to Top Hops around say 11:00-11:30, is there any chance I will be able to get the Vanilla variant? Or will the line be too long/already sold out/etc?

I am not too worried about obtaining BCBS, BCBCS or BW as I know of a few places to get them around my house and know a few places in RI that get cases of BCBCS/BCBBW around the beginning of December when I will be back up there for a quick trip.

I am just dying to try the Vanilla!
