Competition level is way beyond to claim king of OC. Just being in a conversation is a blessing. Our business is driven by our loyal customers, I am just there to fill your beer in a black bag. Cheers!!! Just curious did you get any Bourbon County for yourself?

Nah, I didn't look to hard either. Just some places down here, stayed away from HT and BevMo.

Variants were tough to get this time around. I don't think very many bevmo got any variants to my knowledge.

In Pasadena, Bevmo on Arroyo had regular and BW today, limit 1 each. Gerlach's has regular, limit 2.

Its more and more the norm because the distributers force the stores to buy a large amount of garbage to receive an allocated product. The retailer can either assume the product will move on its own (like a big box retail store), take a loss (and probably increase prices as a result), or create these bundles. These high demand items are used as a mechanism to push lesser demand product and sometimes the result makes its way down to us.

Even purchasing at Wholefoods they emphasized that you'd be doing them a great favor by picking up a sixer of winter ale on your way out.

BCBS 13, 15, BCBCS 15, and Regal Rye were on tap at Rock & Brews El Segundo btw. $20 for the flight, $12 for a 8oz pour. The 8oz pour is a bit of a rip off unleas you're going for Regal Rye. Was just happy to get to try it on tap though, now I can forward my bottle to a trade partner that missed oug.

The Bevmos in the area had plenty at $11.99, I think the Temecula/Murrieta ones got about 10 cases, they had a 2 bottle limit.

Barons Temecula had about 5 cases at $10.99 with a 2 bottle limit.

The only liquor store I checked was Westons, when I was there it was $15 or $16 with a fuzzy one or two bottle limit, I see on Instagram a bundle is also mentioned with some goose island six pack coming out at $28. Guess it depends on how good of customer you are.

Oh yea I also checked with Rancho Liquor, dude was all hot and bothered I was inquiring about the beer even though I was not a stranger to the store, apparently hadn't come in yet.

I'm telling you these liquor stores are a trip, not worth the drama, smh.

How much was Reg at Gerlach's? Just wondering cause of the gouging that took place there last year with Vanilla.

total wine in LB had it for $9.99. Bevmo, wholefoods, Ralphs, and Lazy Acres had it for 10.99. Just ones that are left are in the $20's.

Any news on the second wave?

It's funny to me that the smaller liquor stores mark them up so much. I usually try and frequent more mom and pop styles stores, but in this case BevMo and Barons made it easy peasy. 14 bottles at average 11.50 a bottle in 1.5 hours between 3 locations in Temecula area. Then back home for a turkey omelet.

Yeah, most places by me in North LA has been no more than $10.99, albeit limit 1 sometimes. I paid $9.99 no limit on Black Friday...and just saw some of the more obscure places (still mom & pop) get it in this week and price it at $10.99. All the big box places in my area (Total Wine, BevMo, WholeFoods) were all at $9.99.

These shops that are gouging and trying to make an extra $3/$4 a bottle are ridiculous...there is no upside to this business model. You either have customers thinking that these particular shops prices are stupid high prices, or even if the beer is really limited (bcbs is not by the way), the customer realizes they are getting gouged, because it's no secret what the list price of these beers are.

    Think about this:

Store A: Gets 20 case of BCBS, priced at $10 each. Potential revenue would be $2,400

Store B: Gets 20 cases of BCBS, priced at $17 each. Potential revenue would be $4,080. I would consider this gouging due to the known list price.

The difference in REVENUE between store A and B, wer're not even talking about profit here, would be only $1,680. Is this worth how your customers perceive you now? Just from me alone, store B would probably lose out on about $150 dollars of revenue a year.

When they had this in stock where was it located? I stopped in a few times but didn't see any over the past weekend. Was there display set up or was it stocked with the bombers?

i didn't manage to score one from them but a Whole Foods in San Francisco had Rare yesterday. sad thing is that isn't the most unbelievable part. what was - is the fact it was less than $55 out the door.

Just confirmed it, case of Rare came in yesterday, now long gone. I missed it, too. Coffee and Regal didn't come in that shipment and isn't expected to come.

BCBS and BW are at mission liquor in Pasadena behind the counter. You have to ask for it. 14.99 each. Limit 1. Two years ago they had a ton of BW, coffee and stout on the shelf at MSRP with no limit and it was gone in 2 days.

I went last night. Coffee was gone but got to try Regal and BCBS '15. That BCBS was a bit hot. Regal was delicious. Nice sweetness and a faint touch of saltiness Glad I have a bottle for later. I was going to give the '13 a whirl but then my wife realized that each pour was more expensive than my burger. lol
When I ordered the Regal, the waitress looked at me funny. They have it on their menu as "Rye Cherry Bourbon County". Made me wonder if they had mislabeled the keg, someone was asleep when they wrote it on the menu or if I actually got a taste of Cherry Rye. Tap handle was a Regal handle.

Ohhhhh, I even asked the waitress about them having Cherry Rye on and how I couldn't believe it but she didn't know anything. Makes sense it would be Regal, although I definitely tasted the cherry so I took them at their word and didn't see the tap handle. Time to redo my check in I guess.

Any idea how late in the day they still had some left at Castro WF. I'm absolutely kicking myself because I was several blocks from there but since Berkeley WF was so clueless when I inquired earlier I didn't bother going there (of course I hadn't heard they got any yet).

If an ordinary customer walks in to this store the last thing they are going to think is wow this bcbs is expensive, this store charges stupid high prices. Also bcbs is really limited based on supply and demand. Page 14 now?

In this example revenue would be the same as profit (minus tax).

WF Santa Barbara got re-upped with Regular—the 14.3% version. The best part is that, at 500ml, it counts as a bomber and is therefore just over $8/bottle this weekend. Limit 2.

Any sightings recently at/near list price in South Orange County? We seem to have run dry. Local BevMo doesn't think there is any more coming in.

Called all the BevMo/TW/Whole Foods and no OC store is supposedly getting anymore in until next year. WTF, since when is OC the bastard stepchild of beer?
