This is my first year living in MN and I'm wondering how much Bourbon county makes it into the state? Is it mostly all just in the Twin cities? Any idea if duluth gets any? Appreciate any insight that you guys can give
The past couple of years Minnesota has been pretty barren in terms of BCBS allotment. As a point of reference, Zipps got 4 cases total last year. That said, and to answer your question, it did have a presence in the Duluth area. Hopefully things are different this year. I'm not sure why we've been shortchanged recently.
I was just going to make a post asking the same thing since will be my first year trying to get some BCBS. Did the TC area get much/any of the variants in the past?
If you want a detailed picture, go back to 2014 & read the thread from around Thanksgiving. It'll be an entertaining half-hour or so, & will give you more than you ever wanted to know. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/where-to-get-2014-bcs-in-minnesota.226644/
in summary, goose island hates MN. I considered it a huge success last year when I landed 2 bottles of coffee after a ton of driving around
i think this year will be its own beast, given the new format. guessing that BCBS will be harder to acquire a large amount now that they arent available in 4packs. probably see single or double bottle limits. given that coffee and barleywine were already pretty lean, probably see the same with those. hopefully the new format makes it so there might be a slim chance at the rarer variants.
After spending the last two years in Chicago on Black Friday I have decided to stay home this year as trying to land varients last year was next to impossible. I would assume that this year will be like any other with Goose Island sending very little this way and distribution not getting it to alot of the stores in time for Friday release.
this past year was all about the VR. we all saw that anyplace that got it was silent. the only place with a published amount (F44), ended up with a raffle for 9 of their bottles. the other 3 bottles were released during the cellar sale.
From what I heard, VR was a fluke too. They had bottles here for an event put pulled out a keg and decided to send the bottles from distribution. You essentially had to be a top customer or know someone.
