Just for the fun of it since we are only 3 weeks from Black Friday can someone explain why many cities have announced Black Friday tappings of BCBS and Pittsburgh will be lucky to see it in mid December?

I didn't look for it last year so I don't know but what is the general availability like for the series and when does it hit? Will we get it on Black Friday like other cities or will it come later? Is it gone as soon as it hits the shelf?

Last year we got BCBS super late. Sharp Edge did their Coffee and Barleywine release mid January. Just another example of us getting the shaft unfortunately. We didn't get any Madame Rose and it was supposed to be a nationwide release. Bah.

I've heard to expect it first week of December by multiple people. Not sure if that will be the case. HopeI can get some this year I've never had it or any of the variants.

Because the chances of you getting anything BCBS related in this city are about the same as seeing the Steelers not play down to the level of bad teams like the Jets yesterday: Slim to none. It boggles my mind we keep getting so left behind still given the growth of the craft scene here in recent years.

I guess I was hoping someone from the wholesaler would chime in on this topic and at least give us the bad news straight from the source

They're pretty fortunate that alcoholic beverages pretty much sell themselves.

I spoke to the head beer guy at Gaint Eagle Market District South Hills and he said as of right now they are not planning on getting any, according to the guy that deals with the sales with Goose Island. But he said that if they got any it would be most likely one case in mid to late December and would arrive on either a Tuesday or Friday.

Last year the Pittsburgh area barely got any. I seen a case of BCBS at Save-Mor Beer for $150 plus tax, I passed on that. In mid-January Sharp Edge was selling single bottles of BCBBW and BCBCS for $13 a piece:grimacing:. They only got a case of each. I was lucky enough to find a 4 pack at the South Hills Giant Eagle. It was $18.99. Hope this helps but to be honest with you it is cheaper and easier to trade for it as opposed to finding it around Pittsburgh.

Well that blows. I was hoping to find at least a bottle of the Vanilla Rye but that seems out of the question.

To my knowledge I don't believe we got any Backyard Rye last year. So I doubt Vanilla would show up.

I was one of the foolish people to go to Sharp Edge and wait in the freezing cold to get a $13 bottle of the Coffee and Barleywine. And to be honest, I'll do it again.

Ha, same on both accounts. Although this year I would probably pass on the Barleywine.

Which location were you at? I was at the McMurray location and the freakin' bar manager said they weren't getting these in and said that he drank the last one a week or so ago (he was obviously talking about the BCBS, as he didn't even know what the hell BCBCS or Barleywine were), and was getting pissed that we were heckling him about the variants that were supposed to be on sale. He gave in and called another location who told him that the beers were being dropped off that morning.

I'd hope we'd get a little more BCBS+variants this year since this is the first full year GI has been here.

last year I was able to grab 2 4 packs of regular, 1 4 pack barleywine, and two bottles of coffee. Was lucky I guess, not expecting it this year. Would like to track down a vanilla tho.

You guys are setting yourselves up for disappointment if you're hoping for the bombers...

Yeah I agree. Like I said before, we didn't even get Madame Rose even though the reps swore it was coming...I'd be pumped if bombers came in....but certainly not gonna hold my breath

No, this thread is all about us looking for volunteers willing to drive to a good city and stand in line and buy beer for all of us.
