Think about it this way--if BCBS only came in bombers and they were $15 each (a standard px, if not below what most quality BA bombers cost) would you buy it? I know alot of people will say bombers are different, but if you take ounces of beer into context here and not the packaging, I think I'd be hard pressed to find people who would answer "no" to that question. Alas, that's a $30 four pack less a few ounces of beer....

to be fair, from what i've come to know, the owner of the market, i'm sure, envies you. he'd like to have a "fine" market laced entirely in craft - problem is the location & existing client-base comes no-where close to supporting that. there's more pigeons trying to get through his front door than there are beer enthusiasts/advocates.

i purposely with-held background because i wanted to hear honest responses with zero influence. i have my own set of reasons why i didn't think the markup was out of line but was curious what others thought. in reference to you pointing out how much $%^* you went through just to get a case, i feel for you & i'm pretty sure i'm the guilty party behind him at least getting a small but decent supply of both BCBS & BW last release. i knew it was in distro & had a tip the larger allocations had just been drawn up (meaning it was finally ready to go to shelf). when i alerted the owner, he actually stopped processing that morning's deliveries, marched over to the phone & dialed up the INBev rep. i left while he was holding the line. to my surprise, next morning, it was in & i got a few four packs then.

I think they were about $25 a 4 pack here locally when they came out so that is a fair price, especially if you missed out and didn't get any.

I got all mine at HEB (a grocery store) for $17.49 a 4 pack. However, with the quality and considering that Parabola and beers of the like go for $16.99 a bomber it's really not a bad price.

I think beers like Ten-Fidy are overpriced when you compare it to beers like BCBS. I can pay $14.99 per 4 pack of a 10.5% beer or $17.49 for a 14.9% beer aged for a year in bourbon barrels for a year. Makes no sense.

Can't believe they're still sitting on the shelf, send them to Greensboro they'll be sold in half a day, if not faster.

That would be super awesome incredible price for a bomber!, I am sure they are 12oz.

To the op: I think that is a fair mark up, considering that it has been off the shelf for so long. I have seen it for more than that as a single bottle at release time, $6-8 for a single is the norm here.

Reasonable for 1, but $28 for 4 is unreasonable

since this is back up, something interesting from the last vintage. local distro had a couple of release windows. not sure if the initial round was priced incorrectly or if the distro simply realized they could raise the margins but i was able to confirm the wholesale price per case jumped more than $20 for each iteration for the secondary release.

2013 was $20 a 4 pack MSRP. They jacked it up, no question. 2014 was $30 MSRP. Many stores, mine included, didn't pay attention to the price increase per case and sold it at the old price. Consumer won and retailer lost. How often does that happen!

Same here, $7 for a single of 2013. I got four and saved the others for other people to enjoy.

i dunno. originally, i found VR for the incredibly fair price of $21 ea. that price was so "fair" i felt compelled to ask the owner was he sure he wasn't taking a loss. he verified he was not. his 4pks were originally $23 / $5.75 per btl. his restock was $28 per 4pk. a different merchant informed me Matagrano jacked the price $20 plus on all product the 2nd release. i happened to bump into the region rep & confirmed there was a wholesale bump at the distro level.

Vanilla sold for the Backyard price of $20 before corporate caught it. We're a large retail chain and charge the standard, legal markup. There was only one shipment and it took them weeks to catch it. Everywhere else I shop had BC for $28 or more. Honestly, I wish I knew the real answer for all the price variations. Someone had to screw up ultimately. Goose, distro, whoever...

$7 is a steal of a deal for that! I'll buy it all day long for that price.

7.99 per bottle at the deli on my block in NYC. They still have about five or six 4pks...I was able to treat myself to 5 4pks this year.

I believe they have more in the backroom too...
