    Hey guys quick question

I'm starting to doubt I will be able to bring myself to drink my rare. =| after 6 months or so of staring at it in the fridge I can't doing. Having invested over 100$ of limited beer into it I can't feel it can live up to that price for me personally. Since bcbs is possibly one of my favorite beers of all time how many do you think could be gotten with a rare? Not sure what's fair and what's taking advantage

Also if someone wants to send me a homebrew recirculation set up its yours =] haha

    Thanks for any input.

I think the way it works is you have to convert Rare to KHUs, and then figure-out the KHU:BCBS convertion. There's a function on your highschool graphing calculator as long as you have a TI-86 or better.

I should remake drugwars on the ti-86 with kh, rare and bcbs

    My TI-83 says that you should be able to get 3x BCBS '09 bombers, 2x 4-packs of BCBS '10 or '11, 3x 4-packs of BCBS '12, or 4x 4-packs of BCBS '13.

Not trying to be a jerk, but sometimes stupid questions deserve stupid answers. The value of beer is subjective and different for everyone. Contrary to popular belief, there is no predetermined hierarchy of how beer "should" trade.

Dude, the TI-83 is all problems when it comes to BCBS. I think that's where the 2007 Pappy BCBS chart with the nonsense axis came from.

Lol thanks for all the help you guys... Nothing useful in this thread as usual.

I was thinking just under a case might be a "fair" (still stupid expensive) price for it. Just didn't want crickets.

When is your birthday? Just invite a few close friends over, open up the Rare, share it, and bathe in its glory. Worth way more than $100 in that context.

Or if you're one of those weird curmudgeons that hates celebrating their birthday, substitute Christmas eve, NYE, 4th of July (or alternate country independence day), Thanksgiving, or Cinco de Mayo with the wife/gf/bf/family and it'll still be a good time.

Once you ship you're probably looking at upwards of $180 and a case of delicious relatively limited beer. But I think you're right. Somebody would probably be dumb enough to do a case.

Yeah that's a lot of dough. I spent I think $150-160 with double shipping all said and done. Just can't imagine any beer being worth that =|

C'mon man, that's easy. This hobby isn't about beer, its about obtaining "rare" things (or rather things that people all agree are "rare")....and the funniest thing is that GI Rare isn't even "rare"....but that discussion is for another day.

Well the way to go I think is one of three things:

    (1) Offer it up for a bunch of big stouts you've never had. You know you could get several good large format bottles of top tier stouts.
    (2) Try to do IP trade for a case of Regular BCS. That way no shipping...'course you're in California....hmmm...
    (3) Drink it with somebody who like/love/care about or who somebody would be really wowed by it.

Personally i think you'd be happiest with choice (3) but it depends on your situation in life.

I ended up trading it for whoever is interested. I got one offer for a case but was already in talks with another real cool guy. We ended up trading 18 bcbs, 4 kbs 2 FBS for the rare. We both were sort happy with the deal so promised nice extras. I know I packed my box with 5 extras some member only beers and some limited shelves as a thank you for the trade.

Drink the damn thing. Especially if it's one of your favorite styles and never had it. They'll get tougher and tougher to replace and you may never have another opportunity. You'll kick yourself later if you let it go. I speak from experience having traded away whales due to the rarity/value thing.

Congrats on extracting maximum value from your oxidized beer with pretty label and box. New BA's take note: this is how you "win" at trading. $250 of beer for one $50 bottle of over the hill stout. Bravo!
