BCBS Sightings - Chicago

Jewel on Southport. Regular and BW. A few cases of each as of 30 mins ago. Not sure on limits.

 

Binnys grand still has plenty of regular and barleywine.

 

Do you know what the bottling date is on the regular? (Assuming you picked some up)

I got a Rare and Regal at Streeterville Whole Foods this morning. I thought they were going to have Prop, so I was lined up way too early...oh well. Good score anyway. The LP Binny's, LP Whole Foods and Lakeview Whole Foods were very shady or uncertain about when they were getting it in. There were all sorts of different stories going around, including managers saying they didn't get any in. I'm guessing it was a crazy past couple days for them with so many hunters on the prowl. I've ended up with multiples of everything except no bottle of Prop, which is a bummer but oh well.

 

Kind of strange to keep reading that no one is getting Prop. Even my local beer store guy got everything but Prop. I wonder why that is.

 

Just picked up a few boxes at Jewel on Southport at 11pm.

 

Prop wasn't included because this was a second distribution of bottles that were mistakenly sent to Georgia for sale. Long story short, Georgia doesn't allow the sale of beer over a certain ABV (12,13%?) so all those beers (BCBS) were sent back. Prop would've never been sent to Georgia so hence we didn't see any prop in the second distribution to Chicago.

 

Rare, yes. I was told by a Binny's LP employee that they got either 4 or 6 cases (I can't remember at this point) today around 1:30. Sounded like they just got Rare and Regular. There are some rumors out there that they were doing full allotments, but according to the Binny's employee, they only got these two. Does anybody know any different?

 

I stopped by and two employees were loudly chatting about holding variants for themselves and other employees. Of course, regular and barleywine are seemingly the only two that hit the floor. Typical HP Binny's experience.

 

I figured it had to be a returned batch from distribution - the suburbs were awash with the stuff yesterday and it seems like from most of the posts on here, that all the big stores (binnys, whole foods etc...) were getting almost as much as they got first time around; at least half as much again. Sucks if you are from Georgia though...

 

Doesn't surprise me at all; that store has gone way downhill in the past year since a bunch of staff rotated through (i.e. quit) - I quit shopping there when the old staff moved on.

 

Does anyone know of places that still have it today or are going to release today? Mostly looking for non BW and regular. Happy to send some beer as a thank you if I score. Post here or PM me. Cheers!

 

Any word on Binnys Algonquin?

 

Damn. That's disappointing to find out. The guy at the check out counter was even saying 'wish we got more variants, like Regal'. I wonder if he was just being a jackass because he might have gotten some for himself.

 

They got all but prop yesterday, they wheeled out 5 cases each of BW and Regular and one case of Coffee and Regal, one case of Rare, not sure if they had more in the back, limit of 2 variants per person total, I picked up coffee and regal.

 

Wow guy I talked to at noon said he was not at liberty to say if they had any. That's disappointing.

Im sure it's all gone.

 

I would call, bet they still have regular and bw, didn't come out till after 4pm

 

I was told this too, just seems strange that their distributors would make a mistake like this.

 

I don't believe this supply is all or even mostly due to GA. There is just a ton of BC in general.
