BCBS Sightings - Chicago

Haha. Yep. That looks like it may be the jewel on state and grand. I walked by that 3 times a week for months and just let them sit.

 

This was the one on Ashland just north of Diversey. I assume this was the case at nearly all Jewel locations in the area for a few months. I expect that we'll see more BCBS hit Jewel and other places in time and I suspect they will sit out for at least a little while.

 

Yeah, 100% sure just double checked my receipt.

 

I can also verify $10.99 at Mariano's, was in there earlier today. Clerk said they had enough to probably last through the day.

My Jewel's were always lame and got no BCBS, probably because no white people went there. They went to Dominick's which refused to stock craft beer and then went out of business.

 

Yes white people are the only ones entitled to bourbon county

 

Go ahead and get offended, but the truth is Jewels in certain areas don't stock BCBS because they probably don't move much craft beer because of demographics.

 

West Lakeview is not getting any. Period. I was told they don't deal with the distributor because of how badly they got screwed last year for BCBS. That explains why there's no Bud, Goose, or Founders there, since they all use the same distributor.

 

Yeah, I was told they don't carry GI products any more, which makes plenty of sense. A lot of the smaller places around Chicago were pretty pissed off last year by the fact that the vast majority of the BCBS went to Binny's, Walgreens, Whole Foods, etc., and I don't blame them. While I understand why this happens, it's got to be frustrating watching a place like Walgreens getting more of the big releases than a dedicated liquor store. I've also heard from more than one person that that specific distributor is pretty shady, which makes not doing business with them make even more sense.

 

Have to keep the big guys that push the most GI product.

 

First off...Hello, just signed up but been lurking for a while, this site has been a great guide for a newb in the craft beer scene...So question is any sightings or tips on any BCBS in the NW burbs(Crystal Lake, Elgin), have the day off and would like to track down a couple bottles. Thanks

 

If you're desperate take a drive up to Bruno's in Lake Geneva...they had 5 cases yesterday....there's a catch ......you have to buy a sixer of goose product to get the bottle...it's bullshit but if you want a bottle that's an option

Mariano's getting any variants? How about whole foods?

 

Mariano's usually only get regular. Some Whole Foods will get variants, like the Lincoln Park one. I think they are releasing on Friday IIRC.

 

Thanks, just made the trip, they were doing 2 Bottles today for every 4 or 6 pack and price was only 8.99ea...really not to bad, better than 1 for one
