Coffee was $13. I don't think they were trying to price gauge

Moreno's will be selling the variants tomorrow, as part of their 2d annual "Brewrachos" event. Basically it is 8 hours of tastings and whiskey / beer raffles. They wrote on Facebook that there will be bottle sharing too.

I didnt go last year (and I wont be going this year . . . I like the store, and I recommend it to anyone willing to get down to Little Village, because the "rare" beers tend to sit longer than at other places, but I've got other plans - Fischmas), but basically they raffle off different barrel aged beers every 30 minutes. Here are some links, the latter one the raffle schedule:

I know, I hate to do it, it's one of my secret spots too. Fortunately there are a lot of folks unwilling to go near there unless they've pulled jury duty.

I went to the DePaul WF, and it was run pretty well. A few hiccups...they had told people (and had a sign in their store saying the same thing) they would start selling when they open at 7, but didn't...they waited until 8 apparently because of some liquor license restriction. People had also been told that you had to buy 2 different variants, but they announced shortly before opening that you could buy 2 of the same, including Rare. That definitely messed up some people in terms of what they thought they could get - I got the next to last Rare, but the person before me took the last Prop. One other quirk is that when I got home and looked at my receipt, I was charged more than what they had listed on their pricing board. They did have coffee and cookies for us once we got inside, though, which was nice.

It sounds like I would've been better off going to the LP WF, as I probably would've been able to get one of every variant. But, based on last year's line, I figured I would've been much farther back in line. Oh well...now I just need to trade for a Prop.

Curious - what did WF charge for Rare?

It was posted as $58.99, which many of us noticed and mentioned because it seemed like a nice low price. I was charged $62.99, though, so I guess that's what they decided. Still a decent price, but I don't like it when I get charged a higher price than is posted right at the register.

They were giving refunds for the difference. Regal/Prop were also higher by $1-2.

Good to hear. I planned on going in tomorrow because it rubbed me the wrong way. I did notice Regal was $2 higher as well.

This is all in contrast to what occurred at the Huron WF, where not only did they start selling an hour earlier than they open, but the first few people got Proprietor's for the low price of $1.65!!!

I can't wait until next year for the new whole foods engelwood to open and do their release. Then we will see who is really committed to this beer game.
