I was at Hinsdale. Eight Rare sounds about right. My friend and I were 13th and 14th in line, so we were just hoping for (and got) a Regal Rye and a Coffee each. Some boisterous doofus a few spots ahead of us in line was gloating when we got there that he would get a Prop and Rare and we wouldn't. So we had a good laugh when they sold out of the Rare and Prop before him; he raised a holy stink and the guy handing it out basically told him to talk to the hand since he was just handing the beers out.

"Okay, okay.... here is the UPDATED & final price list for today. After seeing how upset you all were about prices, we decided to take a hit on some of the profits. We based our prices on what we saw bars around town charging & apparently that was a bad idea. So, here ya go...."

I think those prices are pretty good for a bar. I paid $45 at Timothy O'Toole's for my bottle of 2015 Prop to drink on site - apparently I wasn't the only one to think it was an ok price (although a bit higher than I'd like) as I got the last bottle. I would love to be able to go to that today, but have family in town.

Some of the prices are ridiculous, but Rare was priced exactly as it was here on Black Wednesday. $90 is a steal for on-site consumption

Do bottles of reg ever make towards the New Years? I'll be in Chicago on the 28th. I figure there's no chance, but why not ask?

Anything that lasts that long will have prices jacked way up.

That's basically what I figured. Oh well, guess I'll just have to deal with some Pipeworks instead!

Does anyone know when in the past the second round of reg. usually comes in? I realize that everything has changed now that AB is running the show and there may not be a second round this year, but I'm interested if it will be avail like previous years. Though hard to tell if it's reduced distribution in Chi to push hype or just that the beer scene has gone insane and we blame AB.

My experience is that there isn't so much a second round as there is the corner shops getting there allotment a week or two after the big guys and that has already occurred. Your only chance to score some now, in my
Opinion, is if some store is holding back some of their allocation for a later sale date. I wish I could be more helpful, but then again if I or anyone else knew of any hidden spots, it probably would been spilled until it was over

Yeah you are probably right, just miss the days of walking into Walgreens, seeing cases of it sitting out and thinking "do I want BCBS? nah there's plenty around and its $2 cheaper down the street"...

And like every beer there, it'll taste like Magic Hat #9 due to dirty lines!

I'm not sure this is entirely true, although I have no insider info to base this off of. Last year, at least, I'm pretty sure places like Walgreens received new shipments of BCBS around Christmas, and some smaller shops even into January. This is based on my experience running around last year, though, so it's possible it was just held up in distribution since Black Friday.

That would still be a "second round" of sorts. I'm hoping there I'd is indeed some stuff still out there, because I'm still hoping to grab a bottle of Rare to drink in the comfort of my home (as opposed to the stupor of FoBAB).

I keep hoping to stumble across a few more regular and Barleywine at a non-outrageous price but I'm not holding my breath. Rare might be a pipe dream at the point but I hope you succeed!

I thought prop was very good. Not a huge fan of regal as it is currently way too sweet.
