Heads up- the Cub Liquor on 36 and Rice has BCBS (no variants) for $7.99 without a limit. Go

$32/4 pack - seriously?? If we buy the stuff at this price, that will encourage the price-gouging.

I keep seeing people complain about the pricing on this one, but $32 for a 4 pack equates to a 750mL for about $17. Not too bad for a world class barrel aged beer IMO.

Yes except they are not 750 ml bottles and should be priced cheaper than that. I would pay 32 dollars for a Vanilla Rye one off however. I am not even as fond of the regular this year. I guess there were stores charging even more than that like a downtown Minneapolis liquor store charging 11 or 12 dollars a bottle yikes.

Yep the price went up this year and the regular bcbs 2014 isn't as good as the previous years. IMO

Depends on what batch you had. I thought the 13.8% was the best yet, but didn't care for the higher ABV batches

$7.99 a bottle is only a dollar more than most places and some were as high as $12.99 a bottle.

To be clear, I (and I believe some others) am not complaining about the PRICE, we're complaining about the PRICE GOUGING. There is a very clear, obvious difference. When reputable, respectable stores are charging $5.99/bottle (or less) and others decide to gouge their customers $7.99/bottle, I don't think we as a community should support the choice that they're making (to inflate the prices). Yes, free market, blah blah blah. As long as people pay it, they'll keep doing it.
I stopped by a Liquor Barrel that was charging $7.99/bottle, and when I called them on it, the guy got defensive and said, "The place up the street is charging $9.99/bottle!" As if that makes it okay. So two wrongs do make a right?
Climbing off the soapbox now, cheers.

To be clear, by definition I don't think that it is price gouging as I think that $7.99 per bottle is reasonable and fair....regardless of what someone down the street is selling them for.

I'd say the issue is places charging $5.99/bottle, when people are obviously willing to pay so much more that they'll run around from store to store to pay more. Breweries in general seem to have decided to charge time for their limited beers instead of money.

Yeah, places that charge MSRP for limited beers really grind my gears!

Is it gouging if it's a luxury good and people are willing to pay the price? We're not talking about basic staples here. Even places selling BCBS at $10 a bottle were selling out relatively fast - demand is that high and supply that low. If you don't like it, don't buy it. I went to at least two places on Black Friday that were charging too much for my tastes and I turned around and left. Still was able to find enough at a price that was to my satisfaction - just took a little more work.

I've seen a lot of outrageously priced stuff lately (the 12oz bottles of Avery limited releases come to mind) but if people will pay that, more power to the liquor stores pricing it that way. I'm already seeing more stuff sitting (brookly black ops anyone?) because there's only so much demand and people willing to pay - that's what's more likely to happen as the saturation continues.

Price gouging & socialism. As a former Journalism major/writer/English language freak, these are two terms that are used incorrectly so often they should be redefined. Especially the latter, but I since this isn't EnglishAdvocate or StupidPoliticsAdvocate, I'll move along. :astonished:

There is of course the Darkness kerfuffle of a while back, but otherwise I would bet that most of us here could agree with the portion of your comment which I underlined for emphasis.

    Cheers!
