Sunset Beer Company has a few cases or regular BCS as of 1/2 hour ago. 2 bottle limit. they are having a tasting event tomorrow and are supposed to have coffee and barley wine (on tap and for sale - probably still 2 bottle limit)

Left work to nab one & got there to realize it was $9 for the bottle. Felt like beer **** paying it..

That's pretty ridiculous. Mickey's had it at $5.77 after tax during their 25% November deal.

While you shouldn't have to pay that, I have to say that it's probably worth it. Alpine Great was 10.99 a bottle for 12oz, and I would rate them very very close.

True, just figured I missed the boat and needed at least one bottle to compare. Promising to know that it comes close as Great is a fantastic barleywine worth the money spent

Lesson learned: next time call ahead for the price

Just stopped by Sunset Beer. Limits are two for BCBS, one each for Coffee and Barleywine.

The barleywine is good, but a few notches below Great. Still worth the price though.

UPDATE: I was contacted by the House of Spirits yesterday via BM & was informed that the pricing was a mistake. Big ups to them for reaching out & taking care of their customers!

went after work and they were all out of coffee and barley wine. said they only got 1 case of each. was bummed because i thought they were going to have both of those on tap as well but i guess that was miscommunication. could have sworn they said a Rep would be there and they be doing tastings.

did have the reg BCS on tap and will say they are pouring some generous pours of that

Just got a single (it's limit one) of coffee at Tustin Liquor in Santa Ana. Downside is that to get it, you also have to purchase one of Matilda, Sofie, Pepe, or Jacques. It sounded like, "buy one shelf turd, and you can get one each of coffee/barley wine/regular; but when I also asked for the barley wine, I was told that I had to buy two shelf turds. Ruthless.

Oh, but Bradley's in Tustin still has 4-packs of Barley Wine and regular. I got one of regular for $20.

Haha, I wonder if Goose Island forced them into buying a bunch of those in order to get an allocation of BCBS.

She actually said that they did. It's still not excusable, and I still made a purchase (I've never had coffee and have really wanted to try it) but I don't think that I'll be back.
