Is it worth it? I've read reviews and thoughts on previous years, but I don't age beer nor don't have a place to do it. I'm considering attempting to age BCS, but am I better off just drinking it now?

Drink one now, and age the rest. I only could get one single last year, and sat on it until the other weekend. Absolutely amazing. I really like the way '12 is drinking now, but am really looking forward to seeing how it develops over the months/years.

you dont have a closet? grab an old milk crate, an old igloo cooler, shove it in the corner and forget about it.

I prefer Black Chocolate Stout fresh personally. The flavors are more vibrant and age really isn't necessary. Compare that to Brooklyn's other big stout Black Ops, and now you're talking about a beer that I personally age due to sharp characteristics that smooth out for a more enjoyable beer with time. For the money there's really no contest. BCS all day.

Is this question about Goose Island Bourbon County or Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout?

On the Bourbon County front, I can definitely confirm that past vintages age really well -- especially the '08. But they also used to be too boozy at release, so I'm not sure how the '11 or '12 will do, given how great they are when new.

If this is about Brooklyn Chocolate Stout, you don't need to worry about aging. It's good fresh, and it's generally readily available for at least half a year wherever it's in distribution.

If you're talking about BCBS, it's drinking goddamn great right now - don't worry about tucking any away hoping some magical alchemy happens.

Full disclosure: I have extended verticals of both the above beers going. Mostly just so I can stroke my chinbeard and talk about my extended verticals.
