Sells out almost instantly and stores break up the 4 packs and sell single bottles with low limits (one or two).
With the increase in production, last year I found multiple 4-packs in three stores. Now, I'm in Rochester and the craft community is small here and the best beers typically stick around for a while....
No problem finding it at all last year. Lots of places were selling 4 packs. I heard that they made 4 times as much this year, so availability shouldn't be an issue again.
I usually have no trouble getting stuff but last year this beer was allusive. Must have just been me.
Just a note on the increased production. Last year CA and some other states got little to no BCBS. 4X production won't mean 4X at the store you frequent. But then again last year insane amounts were sold in IL so maybe they will lower that a tad!
Never! BCBS in the Chicagoland area last year was at every major/minor beer store. Even found it plentiful at Dominicks, Walgreens and other major chains around the city/suburbs. Shouldn't be a problem finding it in other "big" beer markets as well. To the OP, if you have a hard time getting any hit me up and I'll glady trade you some for nothing more than good shelf beers and maybe some kind of one off brew.
This. There is definitely increased production, but have heard that Iowa is supposed to get 60% less this year, as GI is trying to supply many more markets. Would assume allocations may be down in the Midwest compared to recent years.
Seemed like IA got a TON last year (enough that it sat for a bit like the good old days), but cutting it by 60% seems excessive. Hope that isn't the case.
Seriously everytime I see BCS I assume this (or Black Chocolate Stout but same beer...) got my money set aside for my case of this one this year. I did not last year and it took every bit of my willpower to let that last 4 pack age, ugh, so good fresh and even better with age. Monster now gone isn't a help, so my case will remain downstairs.
Yes...it did sit. I was able to find many 4pks up until about 2 months ago still on shelves. Seems the supply has finally run dry though. I hope it isn't the case, but I have a good source who supplied me with the "60% less this year" info.
