Awesome! Glad I stopped at Julio's just to make sure I did not run dry tomorrow. I looked in cold cases and see 4 packs of Be Hoppy, full label wrap this must be a new batch?

I grabbed a 4pk from my store and I was very happy. Haven't had Be Hoppy in a long time and I really enjoyed having it again.

This is great news, was wondering when the first run to retail was going to hit.

Why is it better in a can than bomber format? Did price point per ounce come down or something? What was the price? and are they 12 oz cans or 16 oz cans? I'll have to make it a point to get to our Worcester office soon, Be Hoppy's good stuff, bottle or can...

I have noticed a difference between Larry in the can vs bottle, I expect the same from Be Hoppy, can is going to keep it fresher. Or I could be completely full of crap. I also like to have one 12oz-16oz beer during the weekdays.

    More on canning:

Well, the can itself doesn't keep it fresher, the price point and/or people's preference for the smaller serving size keeps it moving, which keeps it fresher. But you know that... I myself buy a shit ton more Larry now than I did when it sat on the shelf in a bomber. The same will probably be true of Be Hoppy.

So they look to be sixteen oz cans...

John Kimmich might disagree with you on the freshness.

So all else being equal, cans keep a beer fresher than a bottle? They're both sealed containers. Why is that? Headspace? (then we're assuming it's a proper fill, and I've seen a lot of short fills in cans). Please enlighten me instead of dropping names that mean nothing to me. Who's John Kimmich?

Cans hold pressure better and are far better at preventing oxidation
Cans block out 100% of UV light

Seems wise for many breweries to ditch the 22 and try the more "traditional" packaging for year-round offerings. Brings the price down so some might actually buy it more consistently. $6.99+ per bomber for an unproven product (or even a proven product) prices some of us poorer bastards out. Unless it's an outfit keeping the bombers at or under that $6 price point, it's a size best saved for the seasonals and one-offs IMHO, to keep it moving. For example, I buy a lot more Slumbrew Flagraiser, Porter, & Happy Sol now that it comes in 12oz 4-packs for $9 instead of a $7ish bomber. Same with Wachusett Larry. Cans or 12oz bottles of Be Hoppy or any Wormtown line will be very welcome!

Never ceases to amaze me the way people fail to get their facts straight before applying snark.

Learn who John Kimmich is before asking who John Kimmich is?

I'm going out to pick up some brew in a bit and I'm keeping my eyes peeled for canned Be Hoppy. It's a great brew that I can rarely find fresh.

I was talking more about the preservative properties of cans vs bottles, not whether or not he knows who Kimmich is.
Rapid in Stoneham always seems to have fresh Be Hoppy. Hopulance too when it's around.

What's the point of a forum if someone can't ask a question of others who have the answers?

Cans have the potential of leaving less oxygen in the beer due to the way its filled which could leave less headspace - has nothing to do with ability to hold pressure - if pressure isn't held in a bottle or can, it will go flat. Still going to come down to the quality of the canning line and how its used, just like bottles. From what I hear the canning line that JK uses isn't all that*

I have been enjoying Founder's all day right from the can lately - with draft and bottles that first sip is awesome, then the next you are wondering where the hop flavor went - from the can, each sip has that awesome hop flavor.

    *all snark, no facts
