With all of the new canned beers out there, does anyone have recommendations for a hoppy, relatively low ABV (<6%) canned beer that would be good for a week at the beach? I brought 21st Amendment Bitter American last year, which was good, but looking for something else.

SN Pale Ale would prob be the most obvious choice. Maybe someone else has something more creative.

Not what you are after, but my go-to beach can is Royal Weiss. Just thought I'd share.

Sly Fox Phoenix Pale Ale. Delicious, drinkable, and only about $28 a case. It's my go-to beer for tailgating.

I'm interested in this as well, I will be heading to the beach in a few weeks.

I know this isn't the point, but just wanted to add that if I'm drinking at the beach on a hot day this is one of the few times where I find light BMC stuff to be acceptable. In the heat, and especially if I'm playing sports/games (kan jam, football, frisbee, etc.), I find the watery lack of flavor kind of perfect for all day drinking without getting tanked.

Should also point out that "drinking at the beach" is different than "having a few beers at the beach" or "having dinner at the beach" - in those instances I still prefer something good.

I did Avery Joe's last year which worked out really well. I'm looking for something different this year, too. I might do some Anderson Valley Summer Solstice cans or something else.

Dale's Pale Ale, though that might be a little heavy (6.5 abv)

SNPA was definitely on the short list, and even tho I am looking for hoppy, Im always open to suggestions like Royal Weiss. Dale's Pale is real good, but I feel like the lower ABV, the better b/c the beers will go down quick and easy in the heat, and I don't want to get too stupid too early. Avery Joe and Sly Fox look like winners! If anybody else has suggestions, let me know. Thanks!

If you're open to non-hoppy options, you should also consider Sixpoint Apollo and Sweet Action. Both are extremely tasty and drinkable on a hot day. They were godsend when I went to a Mets game last month on a 95 degree day.

Caldera IPA is pretty good stuff. Make sure it's fresh though. I find it falls off quickly.

NBB's Ranger is not a bad choice on occasion at the beach.

Best beer that fits your description would be Half Acre Daisy Cutter. I know it only gets distributed in the Chicago area and I'm really not tryin to be a homer but compared to the other suggestions that have been mentioned that I've actually had, this one blows them away. It's a great hoppy pale ale with floral, citrusy and piny notes. It clocks in at 5.2% ABV. The only reason I bring this up is cuz I will be in Philly Thurs Aug 9 - Sun Aug 12. Could bring some out if anyone is interested.

Wild onion brewery has "summer wit" in a can around 5% which reminds me a bit of bell's oberon- very tasty on a hot day

Yeah, we get them on draft here in the area but I've never seen any cans. Good beer.

Butternuts has a couple of good ones (all their beers are canned). I think it's pretty widely available. Check out Pork Slap. It kind of sounds like what you're describing, and I think it's underrated on here. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/13302/28751

(also, i agree with you about dale's--it's a great american pale ale, but it's a little boozy for the beach. pork slap is an american pale ale that only comes in at 4.6% and goes down easy).

My go to beach beer for three years now has been Lancaster Kolsch. So refreshing with a mild hopp bitterness and low abv. Bonus is, at $22/case it's the best value of all the beers mentioned thus far.
