So you must remember the days when DDG was on the bottle list for months on end? Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but I too have had everything on the menu including probably every variant of meat pie they have ever offered but the nachos were my bread and butter.

A lot of the great managers have since moved on and I am testing to see if any of the current staff even logs on BA anymore. I rank my nachos across the country as I travel a lot (pretty pathetic) and I had these at the top of the list and always took out of state folks there when visiting. Now those nachos are a sad shell of it's former self...

I talked to Kurt a couple of weeks back at the LB location. I believe he is now running the LB almost full-time these days. Shaun is running things at SB. Anyways, I asked Kurt about the nachos situation and he told me that they are aware of it. The company that they used for the original chips (thick, crunchy & good) went out of business. I think the owners retired. So they had to go out looking for a replacement. He said they've tried a couple of other chips and they are still looking for something similar to the original. So it is a work in progress. My first encounter with the new thin n gross chips was last year around October. I don't know if it was earlier than that when they changed the chips. But I don't thinkit was a year in half ago. Maybe more like a year now. I haven't ordered the nachos since October so I can't tell you if they've tried another brand. But I can say I've had chips from Ranchito's market and they are thick and crunchy. As good as the original BBQ Chicken chips? Close. But better than those thin breakable chips they are using these days. So…can we put an end to this nachos nonsense and get back to what Beachwood is really about? Beer.
I did open my growler of CitraHolic 2 weeks ago and it was probably the best I've had. I think it was better than the bottles. I still have 1 bottle left. But the CitraHolic was in the growler for 2 weeks before I opened it. I remember having a pint at the BWLB location when I fill the growler and I thought it was good as ever. But when I opened the growler the flavors got better. This time around I only bought 1 bottle of Melrose and 3 bottles of Udder Love. So many great ipa's out there these days. And I got more coming.

Sarcastic and sincere at the same time, my friend... the only way to board.

Would love to hear of any other Top Ranked Nachos from SoCal. And hear your stance on whether or not a Beachwood nacho virgin should take the thin-chipped plunge or wait and see, hoping against hope that the glory days of old could return.

As for the rest of the Beachwood experience, yes, the Seal bottle list has always been a sort of underappreciated treasure, with some great ebbs and flows over the years. I remember ordering a pretty expensive (but still below-grey-market-value) "Drie Fonteinen Millennium Geuze" there some years ago when friends were in town, only to be "disappointed" when they came out of the cold box and presented a bottle of Drie Fonteinen Oude Geuze Selectie C that they tried to pass off as Millennium because I guess they were not sure what to call it. We choked it down. It was glorious.

Selectie C, hot damn. Given that DDG was $25, I can't imagine you paid too much. That bottle list was legendary back in 2009 and 2010. '09 BT was still there as well as batch 1-3 Consecration and batch 3 Temptation as recent as 18 months ago.

In CA, I have the Karl Strauss Nachos - order with double guac and chicken up there in the top 10.

I'm drinking a bottle of Melrose now. It seems off. The onion/pepper like taste isn't as strong as usual.

    Hey all,

Had to chime in on the Great Beeradvocate Nacho Debate of 2015; so here's the story:

Late last year we switched produce suppliers company wide. This new vendor was awesome.....except, they did not carry the same chips we had been using. After going through all 5 brands and numerous variations that this supplier carried, we could not find a chip that met our demands; luckily, we were able to convince this new vendor to start carrying our original chips, and for the last 2 months have been serving the same chips that you all loved before we switched suppliers.

    Cheers,
    The Beachwood Crew

And since this thread is supposed to be about our beer releases, here is some info in that regard:

-We still have Melrose and Udder Love bottles in Long Beach. It's pretty common (since our brewery expansion in January) for bottle supplies to last several days. However, this is FAR more likely in Long Beach since that's where the beer is made and bottled, and because it is a larger location than SB overall. Please remember though, when we release a limited/rare beer that timeline of several days becomes much more iffy.

-All our IPA bottles go into distribution with our regular accounts now. The quantity does vary a bit, but they're getting out there. Other beers (which tend to be produced in much smaller quantities) have less consistency in distribution than the IPAs.

-And here are some bottle release dates for you all for the next few months:
    May 19 Amalgamator IPA
    June 2 Melrose IPA
June 6 System of a Stout
June 19 Barrel-aged Full Malted Jacket
July 11 Hopernicus DIPA (Long Beach 4th anniverary beer--same day as our anniversary party now in planning)

-And some release dates that are definitely happening but may move a week in one direction or the other:
    July 28 Thrillseeker IPA
August 18 Citraholic IPA AND Mocha Machine
    September 15 Amalgamator IPA
    October 13 Thrillseeker IPA
    Late October Sadie

-And some non-bottle releases that may interest you:
Collaboration with Left Hand to be released on draft only in late May
Collaboration with Drake's to be released on draft only for LA Beer Week in June

    Cheers!

I think it rather says something that the only major thing people have been complaining about is the goddamn nachos (and NOT the meat pies...am I alone in wanting the meat pies back?)

The meat pie was my go to order. I wouldn't even ask what it was that day because I knew that it would be outstanding whatever it was. I was never let down.

I know it may be a bit hasty but any update on The Blendery? The first brew day was back in February, right?

They are pretty hush hush on the Blendery thingy. The answer I got from Gabe is maybe sometime this year or next.
