2017 was another great year for Gabe’s Beachwood’s family. I loved seeing the can’s and crowlers. Especially loved Gabe’s admitting to his own FUK up in forgetting to order cans for Beachwood 11 can release. Better for me. I was able to get 6 crowler fills of it. Finished off the last one last night.
Anybody open their Tovarish can yet?

I'm still am confused why there's hate for canned products. It's not a fad.

    I agree.

Only reason why those were up is because instead of aged verts theyre going to do variants from here on out amd needed to get rid of them.

agreed. They did mention that they did not want to do the verts anymore and they were just trying to blow through those kegs found in the back.

I love the cans. It made finding a place for the small boxes easy while I get through them vs. the bigger bottle sizes that essentially take up more space.

I've never been particularly keen on having to finish a 22oz of any Russian imperial stout on my own so I welcome Tovarish cans with open arms. Easier to store in the fridge too.

Agreed. Currently working 750ml of CBS and would greatly appreciate 12 or 16oz.

But everyone is doing it... just like those hazy orange juice beers... ergo, a fad.

    Bring Back Bottles!!!

I'm going to wait awhile before opening my Tovarish cans, maybe another two weeks or so. When I had it on draft at the HB brewery it seems like it needed more time to, I don't know, put itself together? Although the variant was tasting mighty fine.

I personally like my coffee beers with a month or so on them, seems to meld better as you mentioned.

However, I had a '15 tovarish get start to get peppery after 4 months so I wouldn't wait too long, learned my lesson there.

Bought 3 T cans. 1 variant. Opened the variant can yesterday late morning. I rarely open a stout for my first beer. I thought it was good, till it started to warm up. Then the Serrano kicked in. Glad I got only 1 can of the variant. I washed it down with a Heineken Pilsener (bottled in Amsterdam). Yes...a FUKin' Heiny. It was given to me on New Years Eve. It came all the way across the Pond. Actually I have 4 more bottles if anybody is interested. Its not our local crap Heiny. Even though it still taste like watered down crap. I moved on to my hoppy beers. Speaking of hoppy IPA's, I still have one can of Watch This Mess. Anybody want it?

I actually enjoyed the variant when it warmed up. The serrano and vanilla really worked well together...for me, at least. I probably liked it better than the regular!

You keep acting like cans are attached to hazy ipa's as a fad. I'm not sure why though. They're separate things. The bottling line is gone. Deal with it. It's also fitting better with Beachwood's eco friendlier motto that cans are less of an impact to the environment.

    Not a fad.

Also easier for Julian to carry to the top of Mt. Baldy.

A couple of 16oz cans for the hike up to the top. A 32oz crowler for the time on top of Old Baldy.

I was about to get sick with flu on Saturday, but didn't taste much in terms of adjuncts in the variant until it warmed up. Whatever I did taste though, was interesting. Couldn't taste much chocolate, and vanilla just seemed to be a general sweetness.

BW doing crowlers is the best thing ever. Now I don't have to try and remember the growler at all. Not to mention, clean-up on cans is much easier and it's way more portable.

Just got an email from Beachwood that has a survey I can take. The subject: Barrel Aged beers - 12 oz. bottles or 12 oz. cans. Love that they're trying to get feedback on our preferences.

Man, I just love the move to small format regardless of type of packaging. I might prefer Sadie with bottle (I'm currently unsure of how cans....age) but I'm ambivalent about all the others.

The can vs bottle divide seems mainly psychological to me. I prefer cans as a form factor but I don't associate them with 'special occasion' beers (yet).

I think with the right design treatment and marketing that could be overcome. If the BA cans had holographic labels, I'd be all over that. They just need something to distinguish them from the rest of the line.
