What’s the hold up on their PCH&2nd location? This was announced before the Bixby Knolls and Huntington Beach locations. And those two opened in 2022. Site says coming soon. Soon in 2023. In the meantime, pizza & beer is good.

It’s TIPA season. Now this TIPA I will get…..& split.
ESBC’s TIPA Power Plant is coming too. They also have a quad in cans coming out same time I believe. It’s all lining up with the release of Younger.

As a fan of DFH 120, that ESBC 13.2% IPA has me interested.

I did 1 can of Green Cheeks quad at 13% and it was delicious. One & done.

Nuclear Power Plant is the quad. Its available now online, along with PP, for pre-order.

FWIW: some people I share with found NPP better than last years Pilney the Younger, including me. This is a beer to seek out.

Didn't love what I tried of their new menu, but pretty shocking they scrapped it after a month. Really tough times for the Downtown Promenade area in Long Beach, a lot of places still struggling. :slight_frown:

Was there just this past Sunday, was pretty disappointed with the new menu. I feel like I don't really understand the "downtown" issue vis-a-vis any other restaurant location, like this is a weird euphemism for something else?

No? Just that most restaurants in that area have seen a dramatic decline in business since COVID. Probably more reliant on foot traffic and the downtown business community that is still largely WFH? It was brought up a few months ago here:

They announced today that they are cutting the food offerings at Beachwood DTLB.

I think this may be the beginning of the end for Beachwood in DTLB. I love the beer, but I can get it at other more convenient spots (like HB or Bixby Knolls), and I don’t see how such a large space in what was once such a gentrified part of downtown can survive without food.

Truly the end of an era… though thankfully just the food part… I’d be devastated if the beer went away.

I have a fond memory of attending a pickle fest there in 2014-2015...pickled peaches, pickled asparagus... fantastic.

Also had a great after-party in 2019 post CCBA. That was a hot day.

If they are in the plans of shutting down the LB location, what about the PCH & 2nd st location? Will this ever open now that theres no more food at BWLB? I hope the new HB location offers more on their menu. The selection is okay. Could use some sandwiches and more pizza slice offerings. Get tired of only cheese & pepperoni slices.

Is the OG HB location still a taproom, or is it strictly production these days?

As of last week it is still a taproom. But it seems to be slowly dying - sad.

It was my understanding that once their new pizza spot got rolling, they would convert the taproom space at their 1st HB location into FV space, which based on the size of the brewery in LB, could compensate for their loss if they do end up cutting ties with the downtown location.
