Here's another to discuss Beachwood.
Forgot to post this on Saturday when I stopped in.
Everything on tap, with the exception of ANNIHILATOR was on for growler fills. The usual butcher paper on the left didn't have any listings on it. Also FYI > the 6pk of Amalgamator inside the cooler was a week old.
Looks like the OG location is seeking an executive chef per their IG. I wonder if this means Jameson is leaving?
They best not touch the smoked ham sandwich.
Or the sandwich of the day
I know the long beach head chef had left and Jameson was doing split time, it could be that they're seeking a replacement for that position.
Maybe they'll finally find someone who can bring back those lamb ribs!
Draper's Dram on tap. Had this recently at Phantom Carriage, and it definitely has the profile of a Manhattan. Not my favor BA offering from Beachwood but still solid
The wife and I are hitting SoCal area for a few days (from SF). The last time I was down there, I was told to check out Beachwood Blendery, but I misunderstood and went to just regular Beachwood BBQ. Looking forward to checking out their barrel program!
If my wife is into Belgians/sours, are there other players we should look at? (Yes, I know Phantom Carriage.) And do you guys like Beachwood Blendery best?
Beachwood Blendery is definitely worth checking out, but their sours are much more mild. Phantom Carriage is solid, and Monkish makes fantastic sour beer
I usually take my wife to Bruery Terreux because she only likes Belgians/sours. She usually likes the fruited Berlinear Equation variants at Bottle Logic too. It's an easy trip because they are pretty close to each other. And like UnknownKoger says, Monkish...probably my favorite place for Belgians and sours down there.
I still have not been to the Blendery.
"Just regular" Beachwood may be the best mid-sized brewery in SoCal, so I'd say you still did pretty well.
I'd choose it over a trip to the Blendery any day.
Not hard to visit both when they're walking [stumbling] distance. Cherry Rye is one of the better Eugene's so far.
Also if you're going to be around Long Beach, can make it to Smog City Steelcraft quite a bit faster than you'd be able to get all the way to Torrance. Definitely check out Snugglebug or Cuddlebug if it's on down there.
What's the next beer release coming from BW. Buffalo 8?
Hopefully. That or Rye Like an Eagle. Been a while for both. Maybe BA Jean Quad since the regular version is on right now
Thrillseeker is back on tap. Rejoice!
I get the feeling they may have skipped 8 buffalo it this year. I could be wrong, I'm just guessing. System of a stout is late May usually. I wonder if they'll do BA full malted jacket again this year.
More Rye Like an Eagle plzzzzz
Foam Top bottled 3/31 now available!
Think 8 Buffalo has historically been every two years
Their new IPA, Comet Chameleon, is pretty solid!
...oh and they have a collaboration with Three Floyds coming out called "Freak Mode" (an IPA)
Anyone try freak mode yet? Thoughts?
Growler fills on Freak Mode?
SoaS Vanilla !?!?!?!? Damn that sound good.
Where are you seeing this??
Beeer release schedule.
Double Dry Hopped Thrillseeker
System of a Stout Imperial Coffee Stout with Armenian Spices
System of a Stout Imperial Coffee Stout with Vanilla & Armenian Spices
Double Dry Hopped Melrose
They also posted on IG yesterday that Citraholic: Super Citrus is coming soon. Citraholic with orange zest added.
Well looks like I gotta plan a line-up day in there... Really hoping it's not going to be on Bruery's anniversary party day for May...
fuuuuuuuuck. DDH Thrillseeker and Melrose and Vanilla SoaS all sound amazing
Aaaand its on tap at LBC
Damn hopefully that expand on their 6pack offerings
Anybody tried Eyes Wide Open yet? Its a coffee IPA on tap in LBC right now
First Coolship release from the Blendery coming up soon, per their email newsletter.
Looks like it's going to be ticketed somehow? They say there will be more info next week.
It's so good
I was pleasantly surprised with the Supercitrus Citraholic. It really just kind of magnifies the Citra hops in it. Also tried the Freak Mode collab. It's still pretty green. Give it a week. Also tried Eyes Wide Open, the coffee IPA. It's weird. You can smell the coffee, but when you drink it, it's like...peppery. Like imagine a beer made with peppers but without the burn
Stopped in yesterday afternoon and met up with some work buds.
Had Hopeful 7, Freak Mode and Super CitraHolic. Have to agree with @UnknownKoger on FM. Wish they filled 32oz growlers. I would of loved to have filled it with FM and store it for a week or 2. Flavors would of really come out by then. That Super C is on steroids. Took home a growler of it for the weekend. Has Hopeful 7 been brewed by Julian before? My first time. Thought it was ok > good. It was my first time back to the LB location in a long time > year+. For those into IPAs the taps are heavy with so much great IPAs right now. Had a taste of Eyes Wide Open too. Was okay. Hoping some of the new IPAs show up at their HB location. Amal 6pk were bottled on the 17th. Nice monthly rotation. Need to add another 6pk. Maybe Street 3 Block 2 as the Pale Ale. CitraHolic or Denver Jackhammer for IPAs. Bottles of MM were being put in the coolers as we were leaving. A good day in LB.
Yeah they've brewed Hopful 7 before. They're brewing more new beers at LB now that HB is brewing the high demand beers
