Whether you're a seasoned beer fan or this is the first time you've heard of Beachwood Brewery & Blendery you're bound to find a beer to your liking. On Tap: Amalgamator - West Coast-style IPA Hops of Brixton - English Special Bitter System of a Stout - Armenian Coffee Imperial Stout Cryo Me a River - West Coast-style IPA Thrillseeker - Double Dry-hopped Imperial IPA Into the Great Unkown - Lambic-inspired ale, Dry-hopped w/ Galaxy & Citra hops
System of a Stout is a very good coffee Stout. I haven't had many of their IPAs but their stouts I've had have been great.
It's true. Julian's recipes are so good, even I can make decent beer with 'em. Also: I tried the Amalgamator last night at the Growler Guys 3rd Anniversary event, and it was better than I remembered. A fine IPA. One more edit: The things I really wish Beachwood was distributing up here are their fried pickles, their lamb ribs, their cornbread, their greens, and their mustard-based bbq sauce. Yum.
I was wondering if perhaps GG got Belmont Station's keg of Amalgamator, as I noticed it's not listed on their (BS) current taplist (despite the fact their email indicated they would be pouring it). Hopefully it will still be on at GG today, so I can try it on my way over to the Reuben release event today. My wife needs to build some additional credit hours at work today, and so was wondering if there wasn't something I could do for an hour or two before going home today. Her exact words were "Isn't there some sort of beer event you can go to this evening?" As I reminded her... we live in Portland now. There's pretty much always some sort of beer event going on, pretty much every day/night of the week.
Yep, Amalgamator is still on-tap (along with their ESB which is quite suitable for todays weather). Really nice change of pace from most of the 'newer' school IPA's as it is clean, dry as a bone, intensely hoppy, classic San Diego style.
Been to this place in Long Beach, CA. Good food and hoppy, hoppy beers. Also liked the area of town. Would recommend if you're ever in Pasadena and looking for a place to get away from the kids...
