Just received the email from them. Seems interesting, but what I found odd was that there is no membership fee. You just pay for the bottles you receive but you can't cancel before a year is up. How are they going to make me pay for a years worth of beer without upfront fees?

It's like a wine club, no?

They ship and bill you, and then you get what you get. Like it or not. $180 for 6 bottles every quarter? Pretty steep for an unknown.

Hello! We are very excited about the launch of our barrel club! These beers have a very limited production and club members will get a chance to taste them. Any questions or concerns can be directed to [email protected]. Cheers!

Seems like this is similar to the Sierra Nevada Alpha Hop Society, just way more expensive...

I'd really like some more info before pulling the trigger. Anything more you can share @BearRepublic ? Maybe a little preview of what's coming in December?

Are the bottles 750s? I assume they're all sours based on the 'wild' name, but is that indeed true?

So, I was rather confused by their website... I thought I was on the main Bear Republic website, not the 'wild' website...

Here are their first 3 releases:

Here are some more in depth descriptions:

This Little Figgie is a big, malty golden ale that has been aged in Charbay Brandy Barrels since 2014. Deep garnet brown in color, we added organic California black mission figs that contribute to this beer’s soda pop sweetness, creamy mouthfeel, brandy booziness, and huge malt and fig flavors.

Barreled for the 2016 Holiday Ale Fest, ‘Twas the Beer Before Christmas is a blend of Old Baba Yaga, Tartare Noir, Tartare Apricot and “Epic”, huge blond ale. It gets its peanut butter roast malt character, dried apricot dustiness, clean tartness from a battle royale of house yeast and adopted critters. The base beers have additions of licorice, dried apricots and peaches and have been barrel aged for up to 28 months, resulting in a reddish-black colored ale.

Goat Rock Funk is created with a spontaneous ferment starter from Goat Rock Beach on the Sonoma Coast. This starter is added to the wort in a neutral reused wine barrel and then fermented. This creates an enjoyable wild ale that has lemon-lime tartness, citrus and pineapple notes, with a fruity and estery nose. A briny, gose-like, pale yellow ale with a woody tannic backbone create a unique flavor experience.
