I started my morning near the fountain and while the line swelled at the beginning it seemed less like cutting and more like folks returning from talking to friends at the back of the line. There was certainly some but not much.

Got there at ~peak line as far as I could tell, bottle line went around the corner of the block. Got in line at 12:25, got my beers at ~4:00, so about a 3.5-hour wait. The lady who was handling case sales said that about 700 cases had sold already. This won't last through the weekend, and might not last through the night. It was much busier than I had expected, and things moved pretty slowly.

edit: an employee was handing out yellow case tickets to ensure that everyone would be able to buy some who wanted some, so that was good.

Hahah I had a feeling it was you when I saw the username! Today was badass dude!

I did feel a bit like an ass when others arrived, but in all honesty the line (in front of us) grew by about 15+ people in the last 30min before opening...then I didn't feel so horrible.

    Sooo...next time Lagunitas?? :grinning:

I was near there too. I counted heads whem I arrived, at about 7, and at 830. It grew by 15+ people. 50@5:30am, 65@8:30. ~%30 growth. It seemed more like each party there was just adding 1-2 people.

    I didn't see any 3+people joining in.

This was my first beer release, and it completely lived up to the hype. The drive back my buddy and I were already planning supplies to bring for PtY.

"Beatification release was a tremendous success today! Here is a photo of some hearty souls who got in line at 1:30AM to be the first in the door at 9AM- wow! The turnout was far bigger than expected. As of right now we have sold over 2/3 of the cases. So it looks quite promising there will be some for sale tomorrow. Certainly not enough to get through another day like this, however! Thank you to everyone who came out today and waited in line for Beatification. This is a very special beer to us and we appreciate that you share our passion. Thanks to our employees for hustling big time with smiles today! Will post another cute pic and update tomorrow. Cheers!"

Aside from the confusion about whether or not there were two lines :astonished:, today was a success.

I got there at 5 am and I didn't notice the crowd swell at the front of the line. By 7 and 8 am, people were getting restless, getting coffee, finding a bathroom, feeding the parking meter, etc. I even had to go back to my car to return my folding chair at 8:30 am - so it may have "looked" like was cutting in when I came back to my spot. It was a fun crowd and everyone had a good time.

There was an absurd amount of cutting. I dislike every one of them.

    I went from 13th to 40th...

It worked out in the end, I guess.

Umm... what? Not sure how this relates to my previous post or why you're so hateful about what seemed to be an overall positive experience.

At RR now. Came here on vacation. Totally unaware of Beatification release. Picked up 2 bottles. Not a sour fan. Anybody want to trade for one in Socal?

We got there at 6:30 and observed a fair bit of line cutting. I saw a couple guys park right across the street from us around 8 and immediately go join their friends pretty close to the front of the line. A ticket or advance wristband system definitely would have helped to some degree. We got what I think was the last available table inside after they opened, but I felt bad for the group behind us that shouldn't have been stuck waiting.

The staff at RR did a great job all around given the huge crowd (our waitress was awesome). Just a couple changes for next time (tickets/wristbands, clearly establishing the different lines ahead of time) could make the next Beat release that much better.

Today fucking sucked. Anybody who says otherwise was there way fucking early or they cut in line. I saw A TON of people who cut. And we were told by Natalie that the bottle-only line would move faster but that was a crock. ******edly slow employees running the SINGLE cash register for the bottle line.

I got there at 8, switched to the bottle only line around 11:00 and didn't get my bottles until after 1. Wasted my time - will not do it again.

Anyone who has been to previous years' releases knows how much better it used to be. RR needs to pull their heads out and adopt the policy that Alesmith uses, or at least fire out how to get the bottle only people through there faster. I spoke to the guy handing out tickets about how something needs to change and he was delusional.

And who dropped their case in the parking garage, breaking 3 bottles? Saw the remnants after. Shitty...

I witnessed the case dropping first hand. The guy was carrying 3 cases and one of them fell. I don't know how many bottles broke but I'd say that at least 4 or so broke.

Ya I don't get all the sucking up, in this thread or facebook. This very definitively was the worst bottle share I've ever been to, and I went to the Alesmith BA Speedway release that convinced them to move to BPT. I'm hesitant to go back to RR again in the near future, and I'm most certainly going to stay away from any even remotely limited release. I can't believe they're chalking this up as a success.
