Not as much as you think. I saw a groundswell of people who are into beer but not at the trading level. I think there are a lot who just want a peice of the pie and are not into trading.

 

After reading about craziness yesterday, I was surprised at how chill it was today. Showed up for lunch with friends and waited an hour for a table, but it was no hassle ordering beers at the bar. When I asked a server how close they were to running out of Beat, she looked at me like I was crazy, and said it wasn't close at all.

 

A. She thought you were talking about kegs
B. they secretly have a larger amount than they publicly addressed.
C. Those 200 cases Will actually last.

 

Meh. I opened one last night as a "reward" for standing in line for 4+ hours like an asshole. I was a little underwhelmed - very round lactic-y fullness - wish it was drier and a tad more carbonated. For comparison's sake I opened a DF Oude Gueze (which is pretty easy to get around here) and I enjoyed it much better than Beat.

 

I'm sending most of the Beat to my friends back east And the Whole Foods 1.5 miles from me almost always has 3f Oude Gueze bottles readily available!

Lol, I was just givin ya a hard time man. I wish they'd do these releases on the weekdays so people in the industry could attend!

 

There should be some left at opening tomorrow. We were there for dinner this evening and they still had about 100 cases left. We sat at the bar close to where the bottles are stored and they weren't flying off the shelf like yesterday.

 

Swung by at 8:00 tonight and had no problem getting bottles. Place has been cleared out though. No Pliny or Pig bottles and Happy Hops is off.

 

Just to be clear, when you say the place has been cleared out, do you mean they've been cleared out of only Pliny and Blind Pig, but still have Beat?

The bartender said they should have more Bling Pig bottles tomorrow.

 

Last minute decision at 8pm, I called RR and they said they had cases left, so I got my ass out there. Enjoyed another pour at happy hour price and left with another case. Not waiting in line makes a huge diff.

Incredibly funny though. They are out of bottled Pliny and Blind Pig as of tonight.

 

Being in Michigan and reading how the BB Plead the 5th release was, I enjoy reading how Russian River handles their releases. They seem to really have their shit together.

 

I'm at the pub right now. No wait, chill atmosphere and cases still being sold.
