    hi friends

i am going to eagle rock on wednesday/tomorrow for the women's beer forum, and have plans to try out some new places before hand since i work 7 days usually and need to make the most out of a day off.

at some point(probably before the event which is at 7), we wanted to eat at wusrtkuche, which as it seems isn't terribly far away from eagle rock, so i think thats a solid plan! before that, we are set to visit noble. but we have time to see more...

would it be a stupid idea to head to beachwood too? i was thinking of maybe checking out bottle logic instead because proximity to noble makes it easy, but i know julian will welcome us with nice open arms if we head over to beachwood(all women bartenders, who wouldn't?).

anyone have a wrench i should throw in my plan besides me throwing my own driving wrench to beachwood?

noble - maybe bottlelogic - or (or maybe AND!) beachwood - wurstkuche - eagle rock. sounds pretty good, yeah?

Time is going to be your biggest issue. Going from Noble to Bottle Logic (you should probably flip those two) to Beachwood to Wurstkuche to Eagle Rock will probably be extremely difficult in time to make it to the Women's beer forum.

You'll have to brave some tough traffic and noble/bottle logic don't even open until 4pm.

After that, getting to Beachwood will be traffic heavy for either Seal Beach or Long Beach location. Then it's another 30-40 minute drive up to Downtown in 710 north/5 north and 101 north traffic to DT.

Add to that, Wurstkuche typically always has a fairly bad line that will eat up at least 15-20 minutes of your time.

Seems a little ambitious to do to get to an event that starts at 7.

I don't have enough time to give you a complete response so I will focus on the central LA portion - I personally would skip Worstkuche and stick to something even closer to ERB. Some suggestions: Verdugo (bar- may not have food that night, super close), Hermosillo / Highland park Brewing (some food, 4 house brews), The Oinkster (more for food, small tap list), Glendale tap (never been), possibly even Golden Road. There is also a Senior Fish close by if you just want some food. Have fun!

Forget it, it's impossible to check out Noble/Bottle Logic [open @ 4pm] then Beachwood [open @11:30] then head to DTLA unless your car has a flux capacitor. Even doing Noble/Bottle Logic then heading to DTLA will be a rough commute.

I would say go to Beachwood then leave around 3pm to DTLA and check out the spots mentioned above.

    Best of luck.

I also think that it would be very challenging to do the Orange County breweries you mention and then make it to Eagle Rock. Even if you got to the one of the breweries right at 4, had your beers, and then tried to drive into LA you might be late to the event. Both Beachwood locations are also pretty far from Eagle Rock, but they do have the advantage of opening earlier in the day.

Some decent places closer to Eagle Rock that you might want to consider: Golden Road (just down the street from Eagle Rock, really), the aforementioned Verdugo Bar, Mohawk Bend (not as close as the other two, but still not very far).

Are you getting special access to some of these places as an industry person? If you are and the regular hours aren't an issue, that's important to know. Otherwise, you're definitely going to have a problem with Bottle Logic and Noble. Glendale Tap is a great beer bar close to ERB. I'd probably recommend it over Golden Road and a toss up with Verdugo Bar.

My wrench, stay closer to ERB imho. Hit The Glendale Tap, The Hermosillo, and maybe Golden Road if you have time. That way you don't have to rush at each stop, and can instead enjoy your time, and the beers at each stop. Save Noble and bottle logic for another day. They are not going anywhere.

i forgot to say that i am going to noble before it opens!!!! so bottlelogic will be out of the question then since they wont even be open! but it will be easy to hit beachwood then after since they open so early

thanks for the suggestions folks! looking like we will head to golden road as well then!

Don't forget Noble and Bottle opens at 4pm. With traffic? Skip them and head straight to Beachwood. But if you have time and you've never been to the Seal Beach location then a quick stop at Beachwood SB puts you 20 minutes from their LB location. Give yourself enough time to get to Eagle Rock. Traffic up the 710 and 110 freeway is terrible. Between Noble and Bottle I would go to Noble first before Bottle. But in your situation go straight to Beachwood, relax and have a few glasses.

i'm with other peops. traffic will be miserable. you're better off getting to the LA area before traffic. plenty of places to hang out. Hermosillo is cool place and now offering Highland Park Brewing beers.

if you do go downtown you could hit up Mohawk Bend and Sunset Beer Company on your way to Eagle Rock Brewing (which is not in Eagle Rock)

I would second (third?) The Mohawk bend suggestion. Great food and taps.

The Hermosillo will be having some of Highland Park' sour beers on tap tomorrow.

I would vote for Hermosillo for its Highland Park Brewing selections along for its great walkable neighborhood. Maybe get some Mariscos El Faro while you're at it.

Yeah. even going before hours to Noble, traffic is going to suck going to Beachwood (at any time after 3) and then going up to L.A., especially Downtown, will eat up all your time.

The Hermosillo is really well worth checking out. It's proof that fun hipster shit is just poor Latino shit from 10 years ago. But they're making some great beers.

I would say stick to Highland Park, Glendale and Eagle Rock if you want to catch that beer forum.

hit up noble, beachwood, wurstkuche, golden road, and eagle rock. all with really no traffic problems, not sure how we got so lucky, but it was a great day! thanks for the help!

You must have offered shade and sprayed down enough guests at the anniversary festival to earn that kind of traffic karma. Well done.

i may not have had to do an extremely hard work at the anniversary festival but boy did i work hard! also, i touched strangers for about 2 hours in all sorts of inappropriate places putting on those temporary tattoos. surely i earned good karma from that. partly in the form of just receiving a present from surly that has a looooot of temporary tattoos in the box...very good karma
