Wow! What wealth of information! It has me very excited about brewing my first beer. I hope to be able to fund my homebrewing by the up coming holiday season!I know it will definitely be a hop forward brew to begin with,IPA or a hoppy RED.Leaning towards Amarillo/Citra/Simcoe with perhaps something Columbus or Chinook like to round it out!Really like big citrus and juicy fruity flavors in hoppy brew. Now ,really need to learn more about malts, been too hop focused. More than anything I want to say keep up the good work fellow BAs! We have a great community here with great wealth of knowledge and experiences.Awesome just friggin' awesome!
Awesome, and best of luck to you! One bit of advice: Despite what Charlie P. says, you might want to lay off the drinking until your yeast is pitched. :-)
Are you looking for more info from this thread or are you just patting us on the back? Also, feel free to post for help on your recipe. I'm assuming it will be extract, i.e. dry malt extract or liquid malt extract based?
Mainly a pat on the back. Not quite ready for much more info just yet, when I am ,I'll post my questions.Thank you for your offer.
If you've been lurking, you probably already have seen people advise newbies to visit http://www.howtobrew.com/
It is not so easy and it is not so hard but after you have brewed your first homebrewed beer you´ll never be able to stop.
This is a good share, thank you. I just purchased Joy of Home Brewing 3. Just finished ready up to the beginner section. I am so ready to go buy the items I need now to make my first batch!
I got flat out shit faced one afternoon when my father was in town. Decided to fire up the smoker, brew and hang out with him while he was here. We were so trashed, I just started dumping in hops without measuring, ended up boiling over once, decided last minute to just change the hop schedule... Luck for me, I wrote down what I did, don't know why I have enough wits to do that, but ended up being one of the better IPA's I've made!
Oh, and I'm sure most here in the homebrew section, they also post on HBT as well. That is a wealth of resources as well as here.
