This past Thursday there was a DFH tap takeover at our local Office restaurant. They had 5 DFH kegs going from 7-9 p.m. and the Northeast brewery rep attended. None of the 5 were the standards like 60 minute.
Bar was full and most people were doing the 5 x 4 oz. flight samplers ($7). I did this and then got a snifter of Bitches Brew which is a real good imperial stout.

Besides the brewery rep the bar staff were handing things out so I got a hat, pint glass, and keychain.
The rep had some "stash" and he offered me a generous glass of 120 minute that I had never tried.

I can't say I came away from the event a fan of Noble Rot or 61 minute IPA. But overall this was an excellent little local event and DFH and their rep were very generous with the crew that came out on Thursday night.

I have not been to a tasting lately but I did attend Food and Foam Fest in Little Rock last week. Sampled lots of beer, some of which I have not had before. It was a nice event.

Brew at the zoo at West Palm Beach Zoo yesterday. about 20 different brewers and about 60 different pours all around the zoo. The animals were out in action so while you drank, you watched monkeys and flamingos..pretty cool concept. Funky Buddha, Dogfish Head, Founders, Uinta, Due South, and many other GREAT beers being poured!

I'm always on the lookout for good local events to go to, especially when a well-known brewer is featured and they send a representative to the event. It's great to talk to reps from the breweries whose beers you enjoy. They tell you all about their beers and what makes them special, not to mention the fact that they usually bring all kinds of great swag with them and occasionally a keg of something really rare. I've had the pleasure to meet reps from Goose Island, Against the Grain, Bells, Schlafly's, Upland, Great Lakes, Sam Adams, and one or two others. In fact, one time Jim Koch himself showed up at my local bottle shop when they featured Sam Adams in their weekly tasting!

GABF is the only local festival I have been to, but there are always tap take overs going on in denver and the surrounding areas. I personally enjoy the homebrew comps myself. Not a lot of untappd logging going on, just a bunch of dudes geeking out about beer.
