I'm headed to Springfield, OH for a wedding this coming weekend, and flying into Dayton late Friday night from New York. I'd like to hit some shops Saturday morning, and might be able to grab a beer somewhere if I need to try something draft only, assuming the timing works out.

I'm mostly looking for some bottle shop and beer recommendations in the area to take back home. I'm not in love with saisons and belgians, but open to most everything. My initial research suggests

    Bottle Shop
    Belmont Party Supply in Dayton
    Wine Works Springfield

    Beer
    Columbus brewing (Bodhi)
    the brew kettle (rajah)
    Fatheads
    Jackie O's
Hoof Hearted (just saw this on this forum today)

What can i expect to find? is the list above general shelf or does it all go pretty fast, brewery only, etc? Other rec's are of course welcome.

    Thanks for the tips

Hoof Hearted will be tough to find in stores, Rajah easy, Bodhi is only draft.

Blemont Party Supply is really good in Dayton also Arrow Wine and Ollie's Place.

Springfield only one solid bottle shop wine works far as Dayton the ones listed above are all awesome
Your list looks pretty good I'd add in warped wing and the Dayton beer company. Also yellow springs brewery is about 20 mins from Springfield they have a lot of solid beers on draft it's also on your way to Dayton as well

The wedding ended up being at 2, so I couldn't make it to yellow springs (opens at 1) and still back in time for the wedding.

That said, I was able to hit belmont party supply in the morning, followed by a stop at Ollies to check for more beer and lunch. Found out that both are owned by the same guy. I wish i had hit Ollies first, only cause the single bottle selection was bigger, and the store is a bit nicer in my opinion. I also stopped for a burger and a flight next door. That said, the beer at Ollies was also hit and miss on freshness, I passed on the warped wing cans cause they were from May.

I was able to get a 6er of white rajah, which has amazing aroma, though I think it lost some on the flight back. I really like that its not your typical citrus aroma either, its really green and i love it. I love citrus too but this is great.

BPS had some dark apparition but not the barrel aged, so i got a bottle of that and a bottle of Black Butte cause Deschuttes doesnt have distro in NY. Also got a bottle of BA siberian night.

Lastly i got fooled by the beer fridge. All the bottles of the fat heads IPA had smeered dates, couldn't read a single one. Seeing the beer in the fridge i figured it must be from the same batch, and being in the fridge, it had a clear advantage of having been cold, even if just for a day, compared to the shelf beers. Brought the pack home, opened one after the wedding, and it was definitely old. I thought o well, smeered date code, what can be done, I tried. Of course i looked at the date code just then and it was from May....

Flight was delayed into dayton, so when i finally got in I just went straight to springfield and only Kroger was open.

I grabbed some Psychopathy canned 10/1 that was alright but nothing special. didn't see anything else local.
