I have found that Italian pastries like sfogliatelle and cannoli go great with Belgian pales like Duvel.

Absolutely! Anything sweet with anything light-colored and hoppy is heaven for me. Whether it's a pastry with Duvel, caramel with IPAs, or a pilsner or a helles with apple pie. Honestly, my personal favorite dessert pairing is individual-sized Reese's with ice cold PBR. Sweets and beer go together like coffee/milk and sweets do. Sometimes even better.

I don't understand how the Imperial Stout / Ice Cream combo works. Every time I have tried it, an odd curdling reaction occurs, similar to an Irish Car Bomb that sat around for too long.
