Looks like I'll be staying in Brooklyn for a few nights next weekend, and I'm coming up empty on places to get a bite. I'm strapped on both cash and time, so location is more important than an awesome tap list, world class food, etc. Anyone here have any suggestions on where to get dinner (and preferably, a pint or two) within a mile or so of 22nd and 3rd in Brooklyn? The zip code (11232) showed only a single result here, and it's for a bottle shop...not exactly what I'm going to be needing. Well, depending on how work goes...

Pit, I don't have a map handy but we were just in Brooklyn and NYC in general last week. Mugs Ale House in the Williamsburg part of Brooklyn is outstanding for both food and beer. Fourth Avenue Pub on of course 4th Avenue, is outstanding as well for beer only. They do have an old time popcorn maker so you can snack while you drink. 4th avenue pub is just a short 3 blocks or so from 4th and Atlantic.

One more thing, it doesn't hurt to get a slice or two of pizza. Therre are lots of places and the pizza in NYC is the best. Frankly most nights (4) that's what we had for dinner and we didn't get sick of it.

Appreciate the suggestion, but 7.5 miles away is way too far. I need places that are literally within a mile or so, since I can't pay for a cab and won't have time for the subway.

You are kind of in no mans land there in Gowanus. There is a place called Draft Barn on 3rd Ave btw 12th st and 7th ave, but I have never been so I cant give you many details. I know you said you wont have time for the subway, but your best bet is probably to walk up to 4th ave and 25th st, hop on the R train and take in a few stops downtown to Park Slope. There are a ton of beer bars on 4th and 5th ave and a few bottle shops, namely Bierkraft on 4th and Union St. Good luck!

Ok, how about The Double Windsor at 210 Prospect Park West. Brooklyn, NY 11215. Never been to this place personally but heard some good things. Walking distance is 27 mins but I don't think it should take you that long. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Just looked up MD, The Gate, and Double Windsor. All three look great location-wise, and The Gate seems to be the front runner in terms of reviews. Thanks so much guys!

Just an fyi, The Gate does not serve food but you can easily order something from many eateries nearby and bring it in.

"F: There is a menu book filled with lots of great local food."

Taken from a 2010 review right here on BA. Oh well...so they're okay with bringing in outside food? I could stop at a market or get a slice of pizza and bring it in with me?

They're cool with it. The menu book is a collection of menus from lot of places nearby to order in.
